Information on Daedalus

Daedalus' name means ingenious or clever. His name also means "to work cunningly." He lived in Athens and was the descendant of Erectheus. Erectheus was a hero and was the King of Athens. Daedalus was descended from the god Hephaestus and has the ability to make anything. Daedalus is known for being a skilled craftsman and inventor. He invented the Labyrinth, which was a maze. Daedalus also made wings for him and Icarus, his son. There are stories about Daedalus and Icarus adventure.

Daedalus became the the greatest architect and sculptor of the Athens. So, Daedalus was asked to find a way to imprison the Minotaur. The Minotaur was a half bull half man creature. Daedalus then created the Labyrinth, which is a giant maze. It is also he was first to build the dance floor. The dance floor was admired by many gods. There are many stories about Daedalus. For example, there is a story about Daedalus and his son making a pair of wings. They made these wings to try and get off the island they were on. Except, when they were flying his son's wings began to melt. Icarus then fell into the water and was never seen again.
