Leadership Day
Our spring Leadership Day event is happening on the morning of April 20th. This is our yearly event that spotlights how our students use the 7 Leadership Habits throughout their lives. On this day, we invite community leaders and other schools to see the great work going on at JCE. This year’s theme is We Lead! What’s Your Superpower? Leadership applications for students to apply for Leadership Day jobs such as MC, Tour Guides, Q & A Panelists, Student Registrars, and others have been posted across from the cafeteria. Please encourage your child to apply for a role that interests them.

Military Child Breakfast
April is the month that we celebrate our military children. We are very excited to cordially invite our active duty military parents to our Military Child Breakfast on Friday, April 8, from 8:00 to 8:45, in our multi-purpose room. At this breakfast, we will honor our military children and acknowledge the very unique lives that they live as well as the sacrifices they make. Some students will be reciting poems or speeches and a light breakfast will be served. Invitations and RSVP forms for this event will go out next week.
PBIS- Positive Behavior Intervention and Support
The North Carolina Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) is a school-wide effort that impacts the learning environments in our school to support high student performance and make our school a caring and safe community of learners and leaders. It is a systematic effort that establishes, teaches and reinforces clear behavior expectations across the entire campus and throughout the whole school day. A school staff must have a common approach to discipline that is proactive, instructional and outcome-based. It is an instructional approach that focuses on systematically teaching social behavior using effective instructional methods. A trained group of our staff is currently working on the initial components of this effort to begin instilling in all of us those behaviors that truly support effective and engaging learning and integrate the Leader in Me Habits. Look for more information on how JCE will be implementing the NCPBIS effort throughout the remainder of this school year progressing into the next.
