Who Was Ben Franklin

By Dennis Brindell Fradin (lexile 812)

my favorite part in the book

I liked that Ben Franklin made lots of things but one of my most favorite things about him is that he made the silk kite and it helped him get lightning into a jar and he named it a leyden jar. He also invented the rocking chair, bifocals, the Franklin Stove, the lightning rod. He also was created the first volunteer fire company, signed the Declaration of Independence and was the Governor of Pennsylvania.

Ben Franklin was born on January 17, 1706. Ben had a very large family. There were fifteen children in his family. Ben was the youngest. He also loved reading books and going to school but he didn't go to school very long. When Ben grew up he had a variety of jobs. His first job was working with his older brother, James, as a printing apprentice. He didn't like working with brother and he decided to run away to Philadelphia.
