New Coaches Academy Agenda Updates
Agenda Updates
I hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and are anticipating a joyous Christmas season. I can't believe that the year is half over. You have been blessed to be able to work with some amazing teachers and I am sure that you are realizing just how much you have grown professionally this year. Coaching is the best job in the world!
I am excited to share with you the agenda for our two remaining sessions. If you have not registered, please make sure to do so. You can access the registration at www.ngresapl.org. Please also make a note that our last meeting, March 12th, will be a working lunch so you can either bring your own lunch or order a lunch through our office. The lunch order form is also located on our web site under the Lunch and Learn tab. There is a space on the order form for the name of the training, you can fill in that space with the date of the session. If you order lunch from us, the cost of lunch is $10.00. We will be furnishing drinks.
As always, you are the best judge of your work day so if you are not able to attend, please know that you will be missed.
Blessings to each of you.

Afternoon session: 12:45-3:30
SLDS Training for Instructional Coaches
Dr. Hubert Bennett will be sharing information with you on best practices for using your SLDS data to inform instruction and provide targeted teacher support. You may be familiar with your own classroom level data, but Hubert will be taking you deeper into the portal showing you how to access grade level and building level data along with district data. Hubert will also be reviewing the TRL links and the new additions to SLDS that populated this year.
This will be a great training for year 1 coaches. The data is right at your fingertips and being able to access it and use this data in a timely way will really enhance the support you provide for your teachers.

Retired Curriculum Director for Cobb County Schools
Session 1:
Getting More Bang for Your Book: Great Children’s Literature Titles That Work for Social Studies and ELA
Come explore our favorite hard-working children’s books and how they can be used to meet multiple standards across the curriculum. You will have time to collaborate and generate your own ideas in this workshop. You will walk out with new titles and fresh ideas…some of which came from YOU! This workshop is a perennial teacher favorite.
Session 2:
Primary Sources 101: Focus on Images
In the 21st century, we have more visual learners than ever before…and far more visual stimulation. Teaching students how and why to analyze images is critical to literacy today. In this session, you will learn how to use images to engage learners, strengthen literacy skills, and boost critical thinking in ELA while building students’ historical thinking skills. Practical and powerful techniques will be shared.
