Message from the Principal
Hello Champion Parents/Guardians!
It’s hard to believe that summer is winding down, but we are incredibly excited to welcome you back to Hawthorne for the 19-20 school year! We’ve done a lot of great work over the summer to prepare for the upcoming school year.
Our mission at Hawthorne includes an unwavering belief in our scholars and dedication to collaboration, the Hawthorne community will prepare scholars to achieve their goals through equitable and inclusive practices that promote academic excellence and compassion. We will work diligently to ensure that you and your child feel safe and valued within our school community. Should you ever have questions or concerns regarding your child’s educational experience, please reach out to either a classroom teacher or myself.
The information below outlines important information to ensure a successful launch to the year. Please take some time to read through it, and please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions!
This is going to be an amazing year! Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year!!! :)
COLLEGE FOCUS
WHY:
- This will give us the opportunity to begin exposing our young scholars of the importance about being ready to go to college. Education is key to success! Our scholar's journey to education begins with us! I want every scholar to be the one to choose and decide if and where they will attend college; no one else makes that choice for them or tells them they can't!
HOW:
- Every classroom will be assigned a university- please know we all want to represent our own university, but we might have more than one teacher that has attended UW-Milwaukee: for example. More details to come.
- Each classroom will come up with their own college chant- will be shared during our assemblies
- Scholars will learn about the college you have been assigned
- Some teachers reach out to the school for some spirit wear or for alumni's to visit
- A banner will be ordered for classroom doors once universities have been assigned.
Getting to know your Hawthorne Staff FlIPGRID
It's time to get to know some of our staff!! Parents please share these videos with your scholars. This will give them an opportunity to get to know their teachers and other adults they will see around their school.
Have fun! Can't wait to learn more about all of you!
