GCCISD Cybersecurity Initiative
October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month
What is Cybersecurity Awareness Month?
October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month. It is a National program that was created as a collaborative effort between government and industry to ensure every American has the resources needed to stay safe and secure online. Cybersecurity is the practice of protecting systems, networks, programs, and personal information from digital attacks.
Goose Creek CISD Cybersecurity Initiative
As Goose Creek educators, we have a responsibility to teach our students about the importance of Cybersecurity. For the second year, the Goose Creek Educational Technology Department has provided lessons to help engage students in learning about Cybersecurity and Digital Citizenship. During the month of October, GCCISD Curriculum & Instruction Department and Technology Management Systems (TMS) are asking that K-12 Goose Creek teachers educate our students about Cybersecurity using one or more of the lessons made available from the Ed Tech Dept. This is a District Initiative that will ensure the students of GCCISD have the exposure and knowledge needed to be responsible users of digital information.
After the Cybersecurity lessons are completed, we encourage teachers to apply for the Cybersecurity Badge. Visit the links below for the Digital Citizenship Curriculum and directions on how to apply for a digital badge.
We appreciate your help in making this a successful initiative!
