Highlights from Butler Elementary School, March 2015
New iPad inititative
As part of the Central Bucks Technology Plan, all K-2 classrooms will receive five student iPads and a teacher iPad. On February 13th, Butler teachers participated in an in-service on how to effectively use iPads to enhance their instruction. As most of you know, Butler students participate in Daily 5 reading instruction, which includes a number of literacy center rotations, and regular small group instruction with the teacher. Teachers at Butler are beginning to use the iPads to supplement center work and small group instruction. If you’d like to see how the iPads are being used to enhance reading instruction, click HERE to watch a video. If you’d like a list of iPad apps that we use, click HERE.

It's time for our Spring Fair!
Are you ready for some family fun at the Butler Spring Fair? On Saturday, March 21st from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm our school will be transformed into a carnival with many games, activities, food and fun! Tickets may be purchased at the door, but the Butler PTO will also be selling tickets during lunches on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of this week. HELP!!!! A favorite game at the fair needs help! Please remind students to bring Jars in so they can be raffled off on Saturday. Jars collected for the Spring Fair should be sent to the office for storage! Right now we have ZERO jars collected for the Fair this Saturday!!!
Thank you to all of you who make this Fair a huge success. Your donations and time are very much appreciated. For those of you new to Butler, click HERE for more information on the Spring Fair. This year's event will include new games, more fun, and FOOD TRUCKS!!!
Two special items at the Silent Auction on Saturday!
During the Spring Fair, please stop by our Silent Auction and bid on some of the amazing items we have to offer. Mr. Brereton offers two items which are quite popular each year. The first item is offered to eight of the highest bidders--student lunch with Mr. B. at a local restaurant. Last year's winners took a bus to the Macaroni Grill in Montgomeryville.
The second item is the ever-popular Principal-for-a-Day. The highest bidder's child gets to spend the entire day with Mr. Brereton, gets to work on special projects with Mr. B. and the office staff, gets a behind-the-scenes tour of the building, goes out to lunch, and gets to make one important decision that impacts the entire student body (will there be a no homework day again?). See you at the Silent Auction during the Spring Fair!
