Principal's Message
Good Afternoon Pirate Families,
Welcome to Spring! I hope that this newsletter finds all of you well. As you may now be aware, the Paramount Unified Board of Education voted for all students to remain on Distance Learning for the remainder of the school year. PHS West Campus teachers, staff and administration continue to be committed to providing our students with a strong academic year. Classes will continue to be virtual each day and students are expected to attend classes daily and participate. Teachers continue to hold office hours daily to clarify lessons and answer any questions. In addition, counselors and administration are available if you have any questions or concerns.
This past month, our current Freshman class participated in their 10th grade registration. Parents please follow up with your student, to ensure they have submitted their Google form for registration. We are currently planning our 8th Grade Orientation and preparing to welcome the Class of 2025 aboard. If you have an 8th grade future Pirate, they will have an opportunity to preview PHS West programs and classes on March 23rd at 6:00p.m. Please check the school website for further information.
Congratulations to all students who earned Honor Roll for the first semester. We are extremely proud of our 419 students who have shown an exemplary work ethic and persevered during Distance Learning.
Athletics have been cleared to begin at Paramount High School. For students who are participating in Athletics, practices and competitions are resuming. All athletes are required to have a current physical and we wish our athletes the best of luck in their upcoming competitions.
Finally as I close, our students have worked diligently this school year and are looking forward to their upcoming Spring Break. Spring Break will begin April 4th through April 9th. Classes will resume on Monday, April 12th.
Thank you parents for your continued support!

Language Arts Poetry
Our Language Arts students were assigned an extra credit assignment to write a poem about a dream achieved. These are some of the beautiful poems written by our amazing West Campus students.
Forest
By Melody Bradley
What happens to a dream when it is achieved?
Does it Bloom
like a flower in spring?
Or sprout like a young pine--
And then amaze?
Does it refresh like a field of flowers?
Or enchant and astonish
like A lake in the moonlight?
Maybe it just glows
like a firefly in the night.
Or does it bore?
California
By Traniya Norman
What happens to a dream when it is achieved?
Does it smell
like a warm cake?
Or flows like a lake--
And then done?
Does it dance like daisies?
Or laugh like babies?
Maybe it just jiggles
like jelly
Or does it pop out like confetti?
Paramount
By Gustavo Lopez
What happens to a dream when it is achieved?
Does it grow up
like a rose in the sun?
Or rise like a plane on a runway--
And then go?
Does it smell like a hot hearty meal?
Or harden and cool
like a chocolate sweet?
Maybe it just brightens up
like a hug after a long day.
Or does it just smile?
Paramount
By April Holguin
What happens to a dream when it is achieved?
Does it bloom
like a flower?
Or rise like a cake
And then settle?
Does it fragrance like a freshly baked piece of bread?
Or grow
like an apple on an apple tree?
Maybe it just lift you up
like a good deed.
Or does it blossom?
Carson
By Jade Graham
What happens when a dream is achieved?
When a dream is achieved you must feel tired from working so hard
As tired as the wings of a bird
Or as tired as worn out old shoes
Does it feel like sitting down after standing up for so long
or does it smell like food right out of the oven?
Or feel like the skin of a baby?
Like happy as a pig in the mud
Maybe like the first bite of dinner
Or sweet as a pie
Or does it feel like Saturday morning?
What happens when a dream is achieved?
The person I Want to Be
By Justin Rios
Let me be the person that I want to be.
Let me be this person I envision myself to be.
Because
I am a person that will encourage my generation.
I am a person that will provide help to my people.
I am a person that will never give up and will always strive to be the best person I can be.
Sure, insult me all you like. You might have doubts,
You might say that I am stupid because of my dream and that i will never make it and you might call me, ugly, and a mistake.
Yet, I am that person that will overcome
Because I am the person that will take all the knives in my back for my dream
And I am the person that will convert all that hate into positivity for my people and my dream
Oh, yes!
I say it plain and simple,
In my heart, I am the person
That I want to be!
Let Me be the Man with a Plan
By Gustavo Lopez
Let me be the Man with a plan. The one who decides what happens in his life.
Let me be this person I envision myself to be.
Because
I am a person that can fix the broken.
I am a person that heals the hurt with laughter.
I am a person that lends a hand when it is needed.
Sure I might have doubts.
They might think that I am below them,
that I hate them, and that I am the worst thing they have come across.
Yet, I am that person that will overcome.
Because I am the person that will guide the lost.
And I am the person that does what needs to be done.
Oh, yes!
I say it plain and simple,
In my heart, I am the person
That wants to be the Man with a plan.
