Excessive Tardies
Please be reminded that students who are tardy:
Miss the morning announcements
Have a rushed start to their day
Require repeated directions, which delays the start of learning for all students
Interrupt instruction for all
Learn unprofessional / negative behaviors – arriving late is insensitive to others.
Every Minute In School Counts!
!REMINDER!
Tardiness continues to be an issue here at Dunwoody Springs ES!
Did you know that DAILY AND ON TIME attendance is vital for student success!
Here at Dunwoody Springs Elementary School we believe that Every Minute at School Counts!!!
Join us in ensuring that our students get to school each day and that they are ON TIME each day!
Classes with the least amount of tardies each month will receive a special recognition!
Parents please do your part in making sure that your student is at the bus stop or arrives to school on time each day. Remember the school day begins at 7:40 AM, students are expected to be in class when the bell rings, not walking through the door!
Any questions? Please free to contact myself, Jasmine Iverson, School Social Worker at iversonj@fultonschools.org or 470-254-9306.

Parent Survey - Please Participate
Every year, the state rates schools based on several data points. One of these data points is a survey that all staff, students, and parents complete about our school. You may complete the survey using your personal computer, smartphone or tablet. If you do not have access to the Internet, you are welcome to take the survey at DSES. We encourage all parents to take the survey because the data will be used as part of the calculation of the School Climate Star Rating. No parent participation or low parent participation will negatively impact our school's School Climate Star Rating from the state. Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis. Results from the survey will not be available to the public and will not be posted online. We greatly appreciate your time and effort!
CLICK FOR THE GEORGIA PARENT SURVEY LINK: http://gshs.gadoe.org/parents
Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 take their portion of the survey at school and it is called the Georgia Student Health Survey 2.0. Federal law requires that the student survey questions be made available for review by all interested parties. Parents can opt out of the survey for their student. If you do not want your child to take the survey, please send a hand written and signed note to your child's teacher by Friday, November 3, 2017. If you do not respond by this date, we will assume that your child can take the survey. All 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will take the survey at some point between November 6th- November 17th
Digital Resources
Did you know that your child has access to all kinds of online resources from any connected device? Students can practice reading e-books, research topics, watch educational videos, practice typing, math, and much more. Just navigate to https://launchpad.classlink.com/fcs and have your child enter his/her student number and password (birthday mm/dd/yyyy). Then, students may choose from a wide variety of programs and databases. Give it a try today!
Hurricane Irma Make-Up Day
Fulton County has released the Hurricane Irma make-up day. Due to the Governor’s State of Emergency Declaration, two of the three days off will be waived, with only one day required to be made up. Friday, February 16th (which was originally scheduled as a student/teacher day off) will be a regular school day.
Thank You - From the DSES Foundation
Thank you to the North Atlanta Church of Christ for being the 1st to donate to the DSES Foundation!

Farm To School For December is Kale
School Cafe Serves Chef-Inspired Georgia Grown Kale & Apple Salad!
This December, the café is featuring a farm fresh and chef-inspired Kale & Apple Salad at lunch as part of Fulton County’s School Nutrition Farm to School Initiative. Maximizing peak freshness, the Kale was grown and harvested in Norman Park, Georgia! Because it’s grown closer to home it helps support our local farmers, and takes less fuel to get it to your school cafe! The dark leafy green kale is not only locally grown, but also is great for your body! Kale is packed with vitamins A, C and K! You’ve got to try this chef-inspired Kale & Apple Salad, served in the cafe as a side salad!
This December, the café is not only serving fresh kale at lunch from a Georgia farm, but your dolphin café will also be featuring a NEW Kale Smoothie! Be sure to check that out!
