What We're Learning in Challenge
3-4 Challenge
Out with the old; in with the new! In an attempt to meet the numerous speaking and listening standards that students are expected to master, we are launching a new oral share topic component to our day. Requirements for this program, which will begin on Monday, January 11, were discussed with the students today. Detailed information about the weekly share topics was also sent home. Please make sure you ask your child about it. Just the same, the listing of share topics for the entire month of January was also distributed. I've encouraged students to keep this posted in a place at home where they can be easily reminded of their upcoming responsibilities.
5-6 Challenge
We have completed (and enjoyed) Esperanza Rising. However, our next book, The House on Mango Street, just so happens to have a main character by the same name. This book is a collection of vignettes and will be a quick read. This will enable us to turn our focus on some of the test-related items of the dreaded ISTEP test. It will be here before we know it.
