Important Info

7 Steps Review:

Last year, Pierce received amazing training on the book 7 Steps to a Language-Rich Interactive Classroom by John Seidlitz and Bill Perryman. Every classroom should have one of these books. If you don’t have one, please email Ms. Dickson so she can order one for you. Over the next few weeks, we will be reviewing these strategies since the expectation is that we actively use the 7 Steps throughout our daily instruction at Pierce.

Step 1: Teach students what to say when they don’t know what to say.

What to Say Instead of I Don’t Know:

· May I please have some more information?
· May I please have some time to think?
· Would you please repeat the question?
· Where could I find more information about that?
· May I ask a friend for help?

This is great information to post in your classroom so that you can remember to begin guiding your students towards using this language instead of saying “I don’t know.”

Can you work the Pre K Discovery Festival on Saturday, March 19?

  • $25.00 per hour
  • The festival is from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. @ Singley
  • Thanks to everyone who has already emailed Ms. Dickson! I have you down on my list.
  • Email Ms. Dickson if you are interested in helping!

Do you need to edit your iCreate project?

  • If you need to continue editing your project, your LAST day to do that is Tuesday, February 9th. My submission due date for the district is Wednesday, February 10th, so please be respectful of my deadlines as well.
  • In order to re-submit an edited project, it can ONLY be done from my computer. Please email me your questions or a time to meet for us to get this done. Thanks!

Austin Readers

Austin MS students are super excited to come and read to our students for the second semester of school! They will mostly be coming every other week at about 8:20-8:50 AM or so. I need SEVEN half-day classes to welcome our wonderful volunteers. Please email Mrs. Aquino if you are interested!

Remember, it's a great learning experience for the both age groups! :)
