LIFE GROUP UPDATE

Hello Life Group Leaders!

It's week 8 which means there are only a few weeks left before the spring semester of Life Groups draw to a close. Over the next couple of weeks you have a couple of housekeeping items you'll need to attend to. I will highlight them below. Please take the time to read through them as these details are essential to us as Coordinators in keeping the Life Group program a key component of First CRC ministry. Also, please go to the Welcome Center this Sunday for a small token of our appreciation!

Let's jump right into it!

Pastor Justin

COORDINATOR SPECIAL - IMPORTANT DATES AND REMINDERS

1. SAVE THE DATES!

A. This Sunday! there is a "Thank You!" gift at the Welcome Center. Please stop by and accept our humble token of appreciation for all your hard work and dedication to making Life Groups a reality!

B. Last week of Life Groups: March 26-30

C. Summer Affinity Groups: As our Life Groups come to a close for the year, remember that we will be offering "Summer Affinity Groups." This is still a work in progress and we hope to get you that information by next week. Sign ups will be in May. Stay Tuned.

2. NEXT SERMON SERIES - "STORYTELLER - THE PARABLES OF JESUS"

Starting in April we will take ten weeks to explore the parables of Jesus.

3. FEEDBACK FORMS:

In your church mailbox there is an envelope with a cover letter, feedback forms, and a roster sheet. In week 9 you will walk your group through filling out the feedback form. Please, please, please give your group time to fill it out that night. Avoid the temptation to simply hand them out for group members to fill out on their own time. Some groups have done that in the past and we had to chase down a lot of individuals which made for lots of extra work.

So please take note: Disperse AND collect them that same night, put them in an envelope, and hand them in at the office (or Nancy's mailbox) by no later than Sunday, March 25th.

Also, have your group members verify that we have their current address and phone number by using the roster sheet that is in your envelope and add that into the envelope as well.

4. LEADING A SUMMER AFFINITY GROUP:

Would any of you be interested in leading an affinity group? If so, please let us know asap. To assist you in that process, please take a look at the resource below.

Thank you!

RECOMMEND A NEW LEADER/HOST TODAY!

Also be sure to fill out our "Recommend a Leader/Host" form for future semesters. As we hope to have the Life Group ministry grow, we need more people to step up into positions of leadership. Your feedback forms are essential to that end!

It will only take 1 minute to fill out...

THINGS TO REMEMBER

1) DRINKS WHEN PEOPLE ARRIVE

2) GREET YOUR GUESTS AT THE DOOR

GOALS FOR THE GROUP MEETING

  • Build Relationships!
  • Discuss Homework
  • Prayer - Also consider praying in smaller groups. This allows for more voices to pray, and also makes it less intimidating for those still learning to pray out loud.

IMPORTANT DATES AND ANNOUCEMENTS

ATTENDANCE ROSTERS:

  • Keep up the good work!

LEADERS WEBPAGE - "AUDIO GUIDE"

SERVE & SOCIALS:

  • Talk to your group about the Serve/Social contest for a chance to win the $250 gift card. Remember the hashtag #CRCLIFEGROUPS

FEEDBACK FORMS:

  • none this week.

TEAM HUDDLE:

  • Begin praying with each other about what the Lord is leading you to do for NEXT semester. We know 5 months is far away and plans always change, but we would love to know where you are at by the end of the semester.
  • Consider who in your group might make an excellent leader/host for future groups.

THIS WEEK in our Sermon Series "The Acceptable Sins of Christians"

Sermon Text:

2 Corinthians 10:3-6

Title:

Private Lust

Pastor's Notes:

At first glance, you might consider this not to be an ‘acceptable’ sin to Christian. Why, then, don’t we ever talk about it? Over 64% of Christian men in America admit to have viewed pornography in the last month. This is an acceptable sin -not because people think it is "no big deal." It is acceptable because it is private and rampant, and the silence is deafening. One can maintain public respectability and have a soul-destructive habit that no one knows about. This message will talk about the problem and the hope of the fight for purity.

LIFE GROUP LEADER SERMON GUIDE NOTES & AUDIO - From Julie Mendes

Julie is sick with the flu so I (Pastor Justin) will be leading you this week.

  • A PDF and Leader Audio is on our "Life Group Leaders Page" website.
  • Nancy will also print off hard copies of these and place them in your mailbox.
  • The link to the leaders page is also below:

SERVE/SOCIALS

Leaders and Hosts,

As you meet with your teams to complete your service projects and social events, be sure to take lots of pictures and videos! After that, here are two more things you can do:

  1. Send your pics and videos to Heather Thomas at: hnthomas.2002@gmail.com, and
  2. Post your pics and videos on Facebook with the hashtag #CRCLifeGroups (we will only be able to see the posts with the proper hashtag link). Also, be sure to express why you love your Life Group in the post.

Once all 10 groups have completed their service projects we will do a random draw for every individual email with videos/pictures to Heather and social media interaction from your group (max of 2 per individual).

The winner will receive a $250 gift card for your entire Life Group for a group social event.

Share the news with your team!!!
