CLEARWATER STEAM NEWSLETTER
Week of September 11-15, 2023
Greeting Clearwater Elementary STEAM Families,
On Friday, Clearwater wore Red, White , and Blue in remembrance of 9/11 and Patriot Day. On Monday, I invite you to wear our nation's colors or flag to honor and pay tribute to our police force, fire fighters, military service men and women, as well as the first responders who were lost and injured in the attacks.
We sincerely thank them for their service to our community and our nation.

ATTENDANCE
Monthly Attendance Charms
This week students who had perfect attendance received their first Attendance Charm for the year! Students were encourage to clip their Charm on their backpacks to promote perfect attendance!
Why it Matters
If children don’t show up for school regularly, they miss out on fundamental reading and math skills and the chance to build a habit of good attendance that will carry them into college and careers. Preliminary data from a California study found that children who were chronically absent in kindergarten and 1st grade were far less likely to read proficiently at the end of 3rd grade.
STEAM HIGHLIGHTS
PE integrates with the Arts at Clearwater! Thank you, Coach Vazquez and Ms. Dobson, for guiding our students through dance choreography and physical education. We look forward to grade level performances!
Scientists are blooming in Kindergarten! Mrs. Vega has set up stations of exploration with scientific tools. Connected informative writing is also a focus. Well done, Kinder Friends!
RELATIONSHIPS MATTER
Mrs. Macias and Mrs. Volpe foster relationships with students as they share "All About Me" posters. During SEL carpet time, classmates are prompted to acknowledge and celebrate their peers. Way to go, 2nd Grade!
