Mental illnesses do not only affect a person's mental state, but they may cause some physical problems too. For example: People with a diagnosed mental illness live an average of 51 years, as opposed to someone without a mental illness who lives an average of 76 years.
Mental illnesses can be detrimental to a person's health, it is so important to take them seriously. One person's support can literally mean the difference between life and death for someone who suffers from a mental illness.
