Fundraiser Update!

We cannot thank each of you enough for your hard work and support of our Fall Read-a-thon fundraiser. We exceeded our goal and raised over $15000. SME profited almost $13000! These funds will be used to support students and staff with additional resources to support student learning. Thank you again!

During morning announcements November 3rd, we will announce the students winners of the fundraiser. The student that read the most and raised the most money will receive a prize. Additionally, the class that read the most will also receive a prize.

During the week of November 8th, I will complete some of the wacky things, students requested. Be sure to ask your student about the wacky things that go on during the week of November 8th.

Finally, if your students raised money during the event, please visit your Read-a-thon account and use their prize money as soon as possible. You will not be able to access the funds after November 4th. If you have questions, please call our office.

Bus Schedule SME, like many schools are short school bus drivers. As a result, we will have to complete double run bus routes. Please be sure to check your student's updated bus time. Additionally, we ask that you allow 10 minutes before and 10 minutes after the scheduled times. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work to find bus drivers.

News from our AIG Department

AIG Referral Window

If you feel your child performs at “substantially high levels of accomplishment when compared with others of their age,” you may refer your child to be screened by the AIG Committee here at SME. Parents may refer their child/children to the AIG committee through a written request to the principal (Mrs. Hester) stating why their child should be considered for screening, with details and/or examples that show a need for differentiated gifted services. Referrals are due before the Thanksgiving Holiday. For more information please click here.

Have question regarding AIG, please contact our AIG Teacher, Crystal Bailey (
