Reminder: DCPS School Food Advisory Board
DCPS Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) has created the School Food Advisory Board (SFAB) to share updates and gain feedback from the DCPS community in our effort to continually improve our meal programs. We want to make sure that every school community's voice is heard!
Please join the next SFAB meeting on October 3 from 5:30pm-7:30pm at Brookland Middle School. Parents, teachers, administrators, students, and all community stakeholders of DCPS school meals are welcome to attend. Those interested can visit the SFAB website to RSVP or learn more.
Reminder: You're Invited- DCPS Back to School 9/22/18
Mayor Bowser and Interim Chancellor Amanda Alexander invite you to kick off the 2018-2019 School Year by attending DC Public School’s Back to School Block Party on Saturday, September 22from12:00pm to 3:00pm at Anacostia High School (1601 16th Street, SE).
All are welcome to celebrate the start of the school year with free food, fun activities for all ages, and amazing performances from our DCPS students! Local partner organizations and District government agencies will offer helpful information and resources, including college and career guidance, health and wellness, and food access resources.

PTA Corner
Hello Owls! It was great to see so many families at our PTA meeting and Back to School Night. The next PTA meeting will be Wednesday, October 10. We always provide child care and pizza, so please join us!
Screen on the Green: Please join us on Friday, September 28, for our Screen on the Green event. We will be showing A Wrinkle in Time, with the movie start time as after sundown, around 7:15pm. We also will have some food trucks on hand, including Far East Taco, Z Burger and Fred’s Ice Cream. Bring your blankets and flash lights but please, no lawn chairs on the field.
Auction Committee: Yes, the auction isn’t for months, but it takes a lot of planning to pull off such an awesome event. The Auction Planning Committee will hold its first meeting on Tuesday, October 2, at 7pm at the Whole Foods in Tenleytown. We will meet in the upstairs cafe area. Please join us! E-Cycle: It’s almost time to recycle your unused, broken, unwanted or obsolete electronics. That’s right – it’s almost E-Cycle time! Please spread the word and join us on Saturday, October 20, for Hearst’s annual E-Cycle event.
Community Dining Night: Join your fellow Hearsties for dinner at Nando's Peri-Peri on Wednesday, October 24 from 4pm to 9pm. It's fun, tasty and 40 percent of the proceeds will go back to Hearst! Nando's Tenleytown is located at 4231 Wisconsin Ave. NW.

Reminder: Next W3EdNet meeting - Sept 17 at 7pm
The meeting on September 17 at 7pm will be in the basement meeting room of the Cleveland Park Library. Three things of note:
1. DC Auditor Kathy Patterson unfortunately was called out of town for personal reasons. Joining us will be 21st Century Fund, which worked on the enrollment report.
2. Our meeting is in the *basement* room. The library has an ANC meeting in the first floor room.
3. Our NEXT meeting, in October, will be candidate forum for the Ward 3 race for the State Board of Education race. Candidates Ruth Wattenberg and Dora Currea have both confirmed.
Afrodelicious
On September 27, join the Bowser Administration at Afrodelicious, a celebration of African Heritage Month. The event will feature African-inspired cuisine from local restaurants.

Fifth Annual DC Parent and Family Engagement Summit
Information provided at the Summit will engage, inform, and empower parents and families to effectively support the highest level of quality education for all the children in the District of Columbia. The Summit will also allow parents to provide feedback to OSSE on the state education plan.
