Kindergarten lunch volunteers

Hello Tree Frog Families! It’s that time of year again. Little tree frogs are joining our amazing school. Kindergarten is a whole new exciting world for kids.

To help make their transition easier, we are asking for volunteers to help out in the lunchroom. They will need help typing their 10 digit numbers to purchase lunch, as well as opening food containers etc. We do ask that you keep in mind the children need to learn independence, so rather then just opening containers for them, you guide them in how to do it on their own for the future.

We also ask that you don’t volunteer if you have a rising kindergartner so that it is not tough on your little one when they have to return to class.

Art News for K and 1st Grade Families

Want to help your little one now for expectations in Art? Have them wash a table with a rag and use that same rag to wash their own hands. Independent skills in both these areas is fundamental when a whole class cleans up at once!

PTA Advocacy Committee

PTA is the oldest and largest volunteer child advocacy association in the United States. Founded in 1897, PTA has a long, successful history of influencing policy to promote the education, health and wellbeing of all children—resulting in kindergarten classes, child labor laws, school lunch programs, a juvenile justice system, and strengthened parent-teacher relationships. National PTA continues that legacy today by fighting for change under its federal public policy priorities: • Family Engagement in Education • Quality Education for All Children • Adequate Funding for Education • Child Health and Nutrition • Safe Schools and Communities • Fair Juvenile Justice Laws.

Each PTA is required per the bylaws to have an advocacy chair.

At Turner Creek, the contact is Lisa Mead, who is also the Advocacy Chair for the WakePTA Board of Directors. If you are interested in helping out in a low stress, mostly remote way, email Lisa at advocacy@wakepta.org

Box Tops and Tyson A+ Labels

Help Us Raise Money for TCE!

Great job Turner Creek! We earned $220 with the March submission. This brings our annual earnings to $784!! The next Box Tops submission date is November 1, 2019. Please make sure they have valid dates (dated 11/1/2019 and beyond). If the Box Top is labeled between 3/1/2019-10/30/2019, we have to throw them away! The Box Tops collection bin is in the TCE lobby across from the main office.

Clipping Box Tops is an easy way for you to help our school buy what it needs. Box Tops are each worth 10¢ and they quickly add up to real cash for our school. Here is a link showing participating Box Tops products.

Clip Tyson Project A+ labels from participating Tyson® product packages and send them to school with your child. We’ll collect the labels and send them to Tyson Foods, and Tyson Foods will send our school a check. Each label is worth 24¢!

Please drop your Tyson Project A+ labels in the Box Tops collection bin in the TCE lobby. Here is a link for a list of participating products.
