St. Lawrence Every Friday Note
December 9, 2022
Weekly Update
We are less than a week away from the school Christmas Concert and Christmas Market. We are excited to celebrate the coming of our Savior and also enjoy time of fellowship with everyone afterwards. Please join us in our month long celebration of the nativity of our Lord whenever you are able, through school activities or by attending church masses (schedule listed below).
One of the great things happening at Saint Lawrence Catholic School is our participation in the National Eucharistic Revival. This year, we have had a few holy hours of adoration as a school in which we spend time with the presence of Jesus. Recently, the US bishops discerned that it was our Mother Mary, under the title Our Lady of Guadalupe, who would be the patroness of the National Eucharistic Revival. As we get ready to celebrate Our Lady of Guadalupe this weekend and Monday, the timing could not have been better.
In addition, Blessed Carlo Acutis is the patron of the Year of Parish Revival! Blessed Carlo Acutis is a millennial who is on his path to sainthood and is already considered to be the "Patron Saint of the Internet". We studied him in one of our morning meetings as a saint of the day. This is an exciting time for the church.
The school is currently searching for a part time custodian. If you are interested, please contact the school office and we will be glad to share the details.
Christmas Concert and Christmas Market
Afterwards, you are invited to the school for our 1st Christmas Market. Our students have been creating crafts for holiday gifts and they will be offered at this one time only event. This is a special market in that the items are free! The only thing we ask is for a free-will donation. Hot chocolate and cookies will be offered as well. All proceeds from the market will go towards the purchase of an air conditioner for the gymnasium.
Also, at the conclusion of the Christmas Concert, the winner for the 50/50 raffle towards the 8th grade class trip will be drawn.
Middle School Dance
The dress code is moderately informal. This means that students can wear jeans, sweaters, khaki pants, blouses, etc. However, we do ask that no one wears basketball shorts, sweatpants, or hoodies. This is meant to be more of a special event and we would like it to appear that way.
With that being said, we also ask that no one goes beyond the dress code. Students should not come to the dance wearing semi-formal or formal attire. Girls are welcome to wear dresses, as long as they are casual and not over the top. We ask that shoulders are covered and everything above the knee is covered. Boys are welcome to wear khakis or dark jeans, but dress pants and sport coats do not need to be worn. We want this to be a fun experience, but we also want to be school appropriate.
Please feel free to email Ms. Kacer directly (rkacer@saintlawrence.net) if you have any questions.
