Cheyenne Families
6th grade students started their new elective rotation on Tuesday. Students should check their Canvas for the new course to complete introductory assignments for their new rotation class.
We have two weeks until Spring Break. Thursday, March 10 marks 9weeks into the second semester. Teachers use this date to ensure that all work up-to that date has been turned in and all retakes have been exhausted. This means that work may not be turned in for the previous 9 weeks after March 10 or 11. Please reference your grade level newsletters for details. Late work deadlines and retakes/corrections are up to the teacher and sometimes only allowed for specific assignments. Students are aware of those opportunities and should take advantage of improving their grades.
There are many things going on over the next two weeks. Please read through the newsletter to make sure you don't miss anything.
Have a great weekend!

Aya Iwamoto, Japan Outreach Initiative (JOI) Coordinator from UCO Visit
7th grade FCS students were able to broaden their horizons this week while they explored Japanese culture with a special guest speaker. Aya Iwamoto is the Japan Outreach Initiative (JOI) Coordinator from University of Central Oklahoma. She shared about the language, foods, clothing, traditions and geography of Japan. We also had hands-on learning with the art of origami. FCS class is based on life skills, including developing cultural awareness and competence. If you have special cultural knowledge (foods, textiles, etc.) you would like to share with us, please contact Mrs. Wildman at kendall.wildman@edmondschools.net.
8th Grade Trip the OKC Memorial and Museum
Dear 8th grade parents,
The Cheyenne 8th graders will be taking a field trip to the OKC Memorial and Museum on Thursday, March 10 (team Champion) or Friday, March 11 (team Eclipse). Students will receive a permission slip in their 2nd hour Monday morning. It is due back this Thursday, March 3rd and is linked here in case you need another copy.
Cost of field trip: The cost of the field trip is $5.00 per student. This includes admission to the museum and a pizza lunch. We are asking families to pay what they are comfortable paying so that every child can attend this field trip. If $5.00 is a hardship for your family, simply send back only the permission slip. Anyone who would like to donate more than $5.00 to pay for another student besides your own, please send extra money along with your permission slip. Any leftover money after we pay admission and pizza will be donated to the OKC Memorial and Museum.
Any questions about the field trip can be directed to your child's 2nd hour teacher.
Thank you! We look forward to a successful field trip!

Please Remind Your Child About Their Student IDs
EVERY student was issued a Student ID Badge at the beginning of the year or when they arrived to Cheyenne. We have reissued IDs to those students who have repeatedly printed stickers. Per the District Policy, this MUST be worn EVERY day with the district-issued lanyard and the picture must face out. 6th graders are maroon, 7th grade green, and 8th grade blue.
If your student does not have their badge they will need to print a temporary badge for the day as they enter the school. We have three kiosks.
It is VERY important that the student remember their badge each and every day. A temporary badge should only be needed on a rare occasion not for everyday use.
Please continue to remind your child to put their badge in the same spot every day so that they have it with them every day. AS they walk out the door or get into the car ask them these two things… Do you have your ID? Is your Chromebook charged?
Student IDs help us know who should be present on our campus, they are also used to check-in and out of the office, to scan for lunch, and to checkout books in the library.

DROPPING OFF ITEMS
We ask that you check with your student before they walk out the door and make sure they are prepared for the day. This includes having their, Chromebook, ID and Lunch. If your student does forget their lunch or something they need for school, we have a cart in our front lobby with grade levels. This will be rolled back into the common area for the students to pick up their items during passing. Please drop off LUNCHES or SCHOOL SUPPLIES ONLY.
If you are dropping off an instrument or athletic equipment we will place this by the back office door for them to come up and get during their passing or after school. Please make arrangements with your student regarding these items and where to retrieve them.
