We have a busy week ahead for our students! Make sure to check out the schedule for the week ahead below.
Re-Enrollment: Tomorrow we will be sending out re-enrollment reminders for families who have not yet completed their re-enrollment. Please complete your re-enrollment as soon as possible as it helps us know what spots we have to offer for incoming families.
Kindergarten Round-Up: In addition to our Welcome Wednesdays, we are adding Kindergarten Round-Up. School day tours will be available on Mondays and Fridays for new families interested in Kindergarten. We will share the link with families this week, please share with your friends and family!

Teacher Spotlight - Ms. Curran and Mrs. Tempesta
In January, Ms. Curran and Mrs. Tempesta’s pre-kindergarten class are investigating the Arctic region and Arctic animals. Ms. Curran planned interactive and thematic activities to practice writing letters and number formation, develop fine motor skills, and learn about Arctic animals such as the polar bear, penguin, orca whale, and narwhal. In cooperative groups, the pre-kindergarten students explored four different Arctic themed learning stations. At one station, the students developed fine motor skills at the sand and water tables. Students played with Arctic animals on icebergs at the water table and in igloos at the sand table. At another station, students rolled a dice and fed a walrus a number of treats or practiced writing on Arctic themed number and letter cards. At a third station, students used shaving cream and plastic ice cubes to make an igloo or ice formation. At the last station, the students used frozen paint cubes to draw colorful paintings and practice writing their names. Each group had ten minutes at each station and there was even a penguin countdown timer on the Apple TV to help the students figure out how much time they had left at the station.
A thematic curriculum is designed around a specific theme or subject. Thematic units involve creating a series of integrated activities for all content areas: reading, writing, math, science and are supported by the theme being studied. With theme-based Learning, children dive deep into topics and tap in to natural curiosity. They are motivated and excited to find out more as they explore on their own or with peers. Theme-based learning integrates together different learning areas and skills. Research by famous child development scientists suggests that integrating subject matter across different content areas, such as math and science, engages the whole brain through active and hands-on involvement.
