Hawk Happenings!

HRBA

Good Morning, Families.

Thank you to all who were able to attend last night's State of the School meeting. Most of you know the news regarding changes for next year. In summary, there are 2 major changes:

  • Beginning with the 2020-21 school year, Holy Rosary Bilingual Academy will be moving to Fife and becoming a parish school of St. Martin of Tours. The new address will be 2303 54th Ave E, Fife, WA 98424. It is an incredible school campus with a church and a gym and will be wonderful for our students.
  • Because we need to increase our enrollment and be able to welcome students in grades beyond just Pre-K and Kindergarten (all the way through grade 8), we will be adjusting our educational model beginning in 2020-21. Instead of the kids having 50% English and 50% Spanish (1 day/1 day), they will be having one block of Spanish language arts every day in K - 8 with Pre-K staying a 100% Spanish immersion program. All other subjects (math, religion, science, social studies, English/language arts) will be taught in English. New students will take an introductory Spanish course during Spanish language arts instruction and then will be with their class the rest of the day.

Please read through the attached FAQ sheet and Press Release as many of your questions can be answered through these documents. If you continue to have questions after reading through these documents, please feel free to contact me. Additionally, we encourage you to attend an open house at the new Fife campus this Sunday from 11 am - 1 pm or Monday from 6 pm - 8 pm. Bring the whole family! If after reflection, you decide that you do not want to return to HRBA next year, simply notify us in writing of your decision. If you have already paid the registration fee and signed a contract for next year, we will refund the full registration fee and void the contract with no financial penalty. In order to get a full refund, however, our office MUST be notified in writing by March 15, 2020. After March 15th, registration fees will not be refunded and the contractual obligations will be in effect.

I know that change can be difficult, but these changes will make our school viable for the future. Our commitment remains focused on our Catholic Identity, Diversity, Accessibility, and Academic Excellence.

Blessings,

Katie Dempsey
