I hope you had a great Thanksgiving. Thank you for helping our fun run be so successful.
During the week of December 11th, your child will be visiting other first grade classrooms to "travel around the world" and learn about the many holidays celebrated during winter. To supplement what we are doing, we are asking each student to make personal connections to his/her own family's culture and traditions by telling about a family tradition. More information will be sent home this week.
The annual food drive begins December 4th. First grade is responsible for canned fruits. Please see the flyer below.

Spelling/Grammar
- High-frequency words (HFW): because, from, their, when

Plural Nouns: - box, boxes; frog, frogs; bunny, bunnies
Writing
Write complete sentences using adjectives, noun, verb, adverb, and prepositional phrases and capitalization/punctuation.
Write narratives in which they recount two or more appropriately sequenced events, include some details regarding what happened, use temporal words to signal event order, and provide some sense of closure.
MATH - Collect and Compare Data
Your child is learning to collect, sort, and compare data. Your child will sort objects into groups based on shared attributes, such as color, shape, or type. Your child will learn to organize and display data in picture graphs, tally charts, and number charts, and ask and answer questions about the data.
Math Fact Practice: Please help your child continue to practice memorizing ways to make ten (1+9, 2+8, 3+7, 4+6, 5+5, 6+4, 7+3, 8+2, 9+1) and doubles (6+6, 7+7, 8+8, 9+9, 10+10).

SEES Winterfest
Please mark your calendar for Thursday, December 14th, between 4:30 pm to 7 pm. Our school has organized a holiday-themed musical performance, and each grade level will perform separately. We have also scheduled the SEMS Jazz Band, SEMS Choir, food trucks, arts and crafts, holiday games, and more! We hope to see you all there! Here is the schedule:

December Food Drive
Our Annual Food Drive, in partnership with Feeding San Diego, will take place between December 4th - December 15th.
We need lots of boxes for this Food Drive and would be grateful for any medium-sized boxes you may have in your garage or recycling bins!
Please bring your boxes to SEES, and drop them off in our PTO room, next to the front desk. Thank you!
SEES Holiday Giving Tree
Look out for a Giving Tree in the front office. We hope to brighten the holidays for some SEES families in need.
