Highland Elementary Parent News
Week of November 22, 2021
It's Thanksgiving Week!
We wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving and a wonderful break. Highland Elementary will be closed Monday, November 22 through Friday, November 26. Students return to school on Monday, November 29.
HIGHLAND TOY DRIVE:
The week that we return to school, we will begin our Highland Toy Drive. Interested parents can donate a new and unwrapped toy by dropping the toy off during morning drop off or after school pick up. Toys will be collected and distributed to students in need.
MORE ALIKE THAN DIFFERENT:
Next week, our school-wide cultural focus will be We are More Alike that Different. Highland students will learn about different traditions including Chanukah, Kwanzaa, and Los Posadas. Students will learn about the similarities as well as the differences and how we can build our understanding while showing respect for the traditions of others.
FUNDRAISER, ARRIVING SOON!
Our fundraiser will be here very soon. If your child participated in the fundraiser, please look for an email/text from the Highland PTA. We prefer that parents pick up the fundraiser to ensure safe transit home. The specific days and times to pick up will be communicated in the email/text that you receive. As a last resort, we will send the fundraiser home with your child. The PTA/Highland is not responsible once the fundraiser is handed to your child. Be sure that your child can handle this responsibility before giving permission for your child to transport the fundraiser home from school.
PARENT INVOLVEMENT WEEK! COME AND JOIN US!
The week of December 6 will be a Highland Parent Involvement Week. We will have a joint SSC/ELAC meeting at 8:30 a.m. on 12/6. We will be voting on our school's Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA). We invite all parents to attend and learn more about the SPSA. Parents can enter this virtual meeting with the following link: https://meet.google.com/mid-djgk-jfa We ask each parent to take the Highland Parent Feedback survey below! We care what you think.
We wish everyone peace, love, and happy family memories this Thanksgiving and always.
