Learning Targets

A Learning Target is the desired goal of each task in which your child will actively be involved. In addition, it engages your child in reflective evaluation of their own performance.

Readers Workshop:

We will review nonfiction text features and elements of non-fiction text so that I can deepen my understanding of informational text. I'll know I have it when I can identify the purpose of text features in non-fiction text and explain how the features increase my comprehension of the information.

Integrated Social Studies and Writer's Workshop:

We will explore the essential question, "What is Harriet Tubman's greatest contribution?" so that we can practice analyzing historical documents to gather information. I'll know I have it when I can learn the T.R.U.N.K method for analyzing documents and gather background information about Harriet Tubman's life.

Math Workshop:

We will use our tens facts so that we can determine the product to the nines facts. I will now I have it when I can correctly recall the nines multiplication facts.

We will review the water cycle so that I can identify how the sun fits in the water cycle. I'll know I have it when I can describe the purpose of the sun in the water cycle.
