Winter Break Ahead...
If your 5th grader is looking for something to do over break, here are a few things he/she can do:
*READ (at least 20 minutes/day)
*Work on math facts (flash cards or online games)
*Write a story or keep a journal over break
*Play a board game (especially ones that use math or reading skills)
*Play outside
What Are We Working On This Week?
Character Education: Generosity
Reader's Workshop: Book Groups - each group has a chapter book that they will be finishing this week.
Spelling/Word Study: We are on our second week of word list #25. The test will be this Thursday, December 17th. Please encourage your child to study each night and work on the word study skill.
Writer's Workshop: We are writing our paragraphs about our animals. We are hoping to start editing this week as well.
Math: Unit 3 - Addition and Subtraction of Whole Numbers and Decimals TEST on Wednesday, December 16th.
Science: Unit 4 - How Living Things Grow and Reproduce. Study guide went home on Thursday last week. The TEST will be this Tuesday, December 15th.
Social Studies/Health: these subjects are taught by Mrs. Kornder. Please check your child's agenda daily to see if they have homework in this area.
Reminders:
December 14th - ALL MISSING WORK is due (lists were given to students last Wednesday)
December 7th -18th is our Annual Eagle Creek Toy DriveDecember 18th - Stuffed Animal Day
December 18th - 5th Grade Winter Olympics. Students should bring winter gear (snow pants, boots, mittens, hats, etc.), a mug (for hot chocolate), and a snack and/or drink for themselves.
December 21st- January 1st: NO SCHOOL (Winter Break)
