4/1 Lions Pride ~ Orgullo de León
James John K-5 School News & Updates ~Noticias y Información
Message to Families / Mensaje a las familias
Estimadas familias,
Dear James John Families,
We missed the laughter and energy of learning while on break and returned to see the amazing eagerness and bursts of growth that continue to occur. Like all gardeners know effort is rewarded in time and growth takes continuous nurturing and tending. We nurture our roots and amend the soil we live in for as one quote puts it…when a flower does not bloom we change the environment it is in and not the flower. Our students, like the gardens throughout our neighborhood are blossoming. They are showing the colors of their new knowledge, they fill the air with the fragrance of learning while begging for more sunlight and water to nurture their creativity. We can not wait to what the showers of April will bring but I have no doubt it will include smiles, laughter and joy. Thank you Lions for cultivating a love of learning and a passion for tending the hollowed gardens we are all thriving in.
We thank you for the joy of Tie-Dye day where so many shared their school spirit together. Your students came ready with hilarious tall tales for April Fools day that kept us on our toes today. We hope your student shared about Cream Puff Day as well as the reconnection with friends and staff they made this week. We are grateful for the return of Staff who were out, Coach Kay, Mr. Sammons & Maestra O’Doherty. What a great return after a well needed and deserved break. Our amazing staff provides so much in order for every child to know they are part of what makes us one PRIDE! I sit in gratitude today.
Have an amazing weekend.

Update- Return to Indoor Eating - Week of April 11
With the changes in PPS safety protocols and the continued decrease in COVID-19 cases, we are planning to return to indoor eating in our school cafeteria for all grades beginning on Monday, April 11. We have enjoyed eating outdoors this year, but it does take a lot of human resources to set up and take down the tables and we want to provide our younger students with full access to their playground again.
Next week we will be reviewing the plan with our students and practicing the new routine of entering, eating and leaving the cafeteria.
For Kindergarten and First Grade Families, please note that Kindergarten and First Grade students will be arriving in the morning in the cafeteria for breakfast. Second Grade through Fifth Grade will continue to line up on the large playground and breakfast will continue to be served by the elevator doors.
