Edgar Allan Poe was born in January 19th, 1809. Edgar died at the age of 40. Edgar Allan Poe was a American writer, editor, and literacy critic. He is best known for his short stories, also Edgars life was filled with death and diseases.

Edgars first book was published in May 26, 1827.
What was his childhood like?
Edgars father abandoned the family and left his wife, Elizabeth, with 3 children. The childrens names were Edgar, Henery, and Rosalie. Later on the date of December 8th, 1811 Edgars mother came down to the disease of Tb. (Tuberculosis) Edgar was only 2 years old when his mother died of the disease. Edgar was then adopted by Mr. and Mrs. John Allan. When Edgar was 17, John Allan only gave him a 1/3 of the money he needed. Later Edgar started drinking heavily and quickly became dept.
How big a part of his life was filled with sickness and death?
Edgars whole life was filled with sickness and death. First his mother died of TB, then his father died shortly after his mother. When Edgar got married his wife came down with the same disease, TB. His wife and mother died on the same day but obviously not the same year.

Edgars death is still a question. Nobody knows who or what killed him. But a person later found him dead on the streets of Baltimore and he was wearing someone elses clothes.

Edgar Allan Poe wrote the stories he did because of how his mother and wife died of TB. Poe most likely wrote the stories he did because his life was so filled with death and sickness. He then wrote an sad poem to this girl named Helen and got very down from that, Helen was one of his crushed when he was a young man.
