Principal's Message
Hello Eagle Crest Families!
This has been a wonderful week here at Eagle Crest! The halls are alive with the sound of children (sang in my best Sound of Music impression voice)! Our staff have been busy moving through teaching routines and practices in our building, stepping into the curriculum and content in each of our grade levels. In every classroom I have visited I have come across innovative teaching, insightful questions and discussions, and creative ways that students are showing their learning.
As you know, we have a new way of framing behavior and learning expectations this year- RISE! The R from RISE is for responsibility and as we head into the new month we will be focusing on responsibility in the classroom, in our cafeteria, on the playground, and throughout the school. Below we are sharing our matrix for expected behaviors so that you can see how we show responsibility here at Eagle Crest.
As always, thank you for your incredible support! I look forward to seeing (hopefully) many of you at our PTO Coffee with the Principal on Tuesday, September 6th at 8:45am.
Warmly,
Amanda

Dean of Students' Message
Hello Eagle Crest Families!
Now that we are a couple of weeks into the school year, we have seen an increase in typical seasonal illnesses. As we continue to navigate COVID symptoms as well, the question has come up, "How sick is too sick to come to school?" The district COVID-19 information site explains more about what symptoms you should be looking for each morning and is an excellent resource.
If you are going to keep your child home, please just give the front office a call (303-485-6073) or send an email to Dinah Sherwood our Attendance Clerk (sherwood_dinah@svvsd.org). Emails sent to teachers do not always get sent to the office, so please include Dinah in any communication to teachers. Absences for illness are always excused and there are no negative consequences. If we do not hear from you about your child's absence, we do make daily phone calls home to ensure your child is safe.
We appreciate your support in keeping our community safe and healthy!
All the best,
Lindsey Cheney

Code of Conduct
23% of families have completed their acknowledgement of their Code of Conduct in Infinite Campus. Help us get to 100% by completing the steps below.
Every year St. Vrain Valley Schools prints an up-to-date version of the Code of Conduct for students and families to review. This important document informs students and their families about the expectations for school conduct and the consequences for behaviors outside of those expectations. It is important that families review this information every year and acknowledge their receipt and understanding of this document.
Please click here to access an electronic version of the Code of Conduct. After you have reviewed this information, all families must sign an electronic acknowledgement that they have received, read, and understand the information contained. To sign your electronic acknowledgement, please follow the steps described here.
iPad Insurance
There are two weeks left to sign-up for iPad Insurance! Avoid a costly bill for any damage that happens at home or school by opting-in for as little as $1.

Mwebaza Update
What’s Happening at our sister school in Uganda!
Did you know that Eagle Crest has a sister school in Uganda? The name of our sister school is Mwebaza Annex! The word “mwebaza” means “gratitude” in the Luganda language. Eagle Crest and other schools in Colorado have partnerships in Uganda through the Mwebaza Foundation. More information about the foundation here: https://www.mwebaza.org/
Our big news from this summer is that the borehole well that we supported through some of our fundraising efforts was completely funded! The drilling and construction started at the end of May. When Mrs. Hansen arrived in Uganda in mid June she was so excited to travel to Mwebaza Annex to work with all the teachers and students on some projects AND see the completed well.
When she arrived, there was clean water being pumped to the water tank and available for all the students and staff! One of the really awesome parts of this project is that the electricity to run the pump is generated from the solar panels on the school! Not only is solar energy being used to run all the computers in the lab and the lights in the school, it is also being used for pumping the water from deep in the ground to the water storage tank above the ground. It's so great that this is a sustainable project!
The awesome staff at the school decided to create a social enterprise business by selling the water to community members. It’s an easy way for them to make money to support projects, school fees, and needed repairs at the school. Each day community members come to fill their jerry cans with fresh clean water and pay the school a price per can. It’s a win-win as the community now has a water source close by.
Here are a few pictures from the trip to Mwebaza Annex this summer! More information will be coming soon about the 3rd - 5th grade club and other whole school activities that are being planned for this year.
Thanks to all at Eagle Crest for supporting the borehole well project.
100 Mile Club
100 Mile Club is starting next week! Students who participate will run/walk on the track before school from 7:45-8:15 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The first running/walking opportunity will be Tuesday, September 6. Running with friends is a great way to start the day!
All students and grade levels are welcome to join!

Add Money to your Child’s School Breakfast & Lunch Account
MySchoolBucks is the website you want to access in order to add funds to your child’s account for purchasing breakfast, lunch, or milk at school. This system will send you reminders and can manage the account of multiple students. Money can also be sent to school by check or cash. Please label any checks or cash with the students first name, last name, and teacher.
If you haven’t yet, you can apply for Free & Reduced meals to see if your family qualifies for free meals. Applying for Free & Reduced lunch will help manage fees (like iPad Insurance or sports) and also helps our school receive additional funds and services. We encourage all families to complete the application.
