CMS Families:
“Be Better”
In schools today we are always looking for teachable moments. This past week, we have placed an emphasis on the motto: “Be Better.” As educators, we spend a lot of time teaching the Standards and Frameworks set forth by the state. However, we are also charged with ensuring we teach civility and social responsibility as well. We are so fortunate to have so many students who are committed to “Being Better.” As adults, we all serve as role models and beacons of righteousness. Moreover, students will take their cues from us as we lead by example. I am so proud of my students and staff; as a school, we always come together to help our students see the meaning of their actions. It’s been a year since we lost our colleague and friend Mr. Paire. I’m so happy that we can celebrate his life by carrying forward his mission of “Being Better.” We appreciate any help family members can provide in paying forward this initiative.
I am always available to answer any questions you may have. Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend.

Meet the Teacher Night Recap
We had a tremendous turnout of parents and family members for Meet the Teacher Night last Thursday. There were many smiles and happy faces as students led their families around our school. Hopefully, everyone left with a deeper understanding of the learning culture that exists here at CMS.
School Council 2018-2019
At the Meet the Teacher Night, parents voted for parent representatives for this year’s school council. Here are the elected individuals:
Jaime Dell’Ovo
Patricia Montville
Heidi Moody
Estelle Palfreman
Kelly Szela
My staff and I look forward to working with you this upcoming year!
Thank You PTO (Parent Teacher Organization)
A big thank you goes out to our PTO for approving two early initiatives last night. We are so lucky to have this group helping us help students reach new heights. Here’s what they approved last night:
They added $3,400.00 toward our 7th grade field trip to the Boston Museum of Science. Our 7th grade students will be heading there later next month to get a cross-curricular opportunity.
They also approved $1,398.00 for the purchase of 280 mice for our chromebooks
Thank you for helping so many of our students get additional experiences while being in middle school. This is why supporting our PTO is so important. If you would like to get involved in our PTO, please contact the president of PTO Kelly Szela at kellyszela@charter.net
