Liberty Park Elementary School Newsletter
Friday, November 13th
Dear Liberty Park Families,
We shared information yesterday regarding the Marion County Health Department’s requirement to move to virtual for K-12. We know this change can be overwhelming and create many questions that need to be answered. We are working to get these answers to you as soon as possible. Please know that Liberty Park is here for you to answer questions. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher or school. We may not have answers to everything at this time, but will work hard to communicate with you as soon as we do.
In order for our teachers to properly prepare for virtual learning, Monday, November 23rd and Tuesday, November 24th will be eLearning days. These days will be different from virtual learning that your child will begin on Monday, November 30th. On these days students will log into Canvas and complete independent activities. Teachers will be available to answer questions from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm.
Please find the most up to date information we have on this transition to virtual below.
As always, I thank you for your continued support of Liberty Park Elementary! Take care, be safe, and have a great weekend!
Your Principal,
Jason Brooks

Notes from Nurse Kelly
- Liberty Park Clinic received some "goodie bags". Each bag includes hat/gloves, hand soap, kleenex, toothpaste, hand sanitizer, toothbrush, lotion, lip balm. If your student wants a "goodie bag" please email the nurse at kwoods1@warren.k12.in.us OR call the nurse at 317-532-1855 and a bag will be sent home with your student.
- If your student was exposed to a COVID POSITIVE person, and is a close contact, please remember that student must be quarantined for 14 days from the date of last exposure before returning to school. This includes students who have no symptoms. If you have any questions, please call Nurse Kelly at 317-532-1855.
- If your student is absent due to illness, please let the school know the reason for the absence. We are being very diligent in following the new COVID rules for allowing children to return to school after having an illness. We want to keep everyone safe.
- COVID Testing Sites for Students: If you feel you need to have your student tested for COVID here are a couple of sites who do testing on students. These are on the Southside, I have not gotten a list for the east side yet.
WALMART - GREENWOOD - Register over the phone at 1-800-635-8611. NO CHARGE. Tests any age.
INDIANA IMMEDIATE CARE (US 31 across from Walmart) - Register over the phone upon arrival in the parking lot (317-883-7712). NO CHARGE. They have Spanish/Burmese/Chinese interpreters. Tests age 5 and up.
Student iPad Safety & Repairs
We are excited to provide students with technology to enhance their learning experiences in the MSD of Warren Township. Each student K-4 is assigned an iPad for virtual and in-person classroom use. Students are responsible for the proper care and use of their device. Each device is covered by a district-sponsored insurance program for damage. This keeps charges for both intentional and accidental damages low. Both purposeful and accidental damage will be charged at a reduced rate.
Repair ~Family Charge
1st-$5
2nd-$25
3rd-$50
More than 3-The actual cost of repair or $50
How does the district ensure student safety with the use of student devices?
Warren Township employs a variety of methods to manage student devices including Internet filtering, and application restrictions. Internet Filtering software collects information about the sites that students access. Whether a use is off task or appropriate depends on the time of day, the student’s schedule, and the teacher’s instructions. If a student attempts to access an inappropriate site, a notification is generated and the filtering software blocks the viewing of that site. Students are also taught about appropriate use and care for their devices by their classroom teachers. Specific age-appropriate lessons have been created for use with all students.
Parent VUE Portal
Synergy has a ParentVUE portal that parents can use to monitor students grades, attendance and discipline. Parents can view their students "Warren Password" on the ParentVUE Student Info tab. Parents can click on Student Info and then scroll to the bottom of the page. They will see their students' passwords right below the bus information.

SCHOOL DISTRICT PUBLICATIONS/NEWS MEDIA USE
The occasion may arise when the school district wants to recognize your child or your child's school. This may include your child's photo, your child's name or your child's work in district publications, newsletters, on school district websites, and in electronic/social media or in staff training videos. We may also want to tell the media (including newspapers, television, and radio) about your child's achievements. We never knowingly release information about a student to anyone who wants to use it for commercial/political purposes. However, we will honor your request to not include your child in these types of recognitions if you notify your child's school office in writing that you do not want this type of information released.
