Mrs. Fortunato’s Message
Merry blessed Christmas and Happy New Year! Welcome back from break! The buildings are full of love and excitement as everyone settles into being back in school.
I love January! Not the blustery, freezing cold that has me considering a move to a warmer state, but the fresh beginning and promise that the new year offers each one of us. Having the break has given me a chance to take a few deep breaths and evaluate the work we have accomplished in order to make the most of the second part of the school year.
Calling all 7th and 8th graders....
The March for Life trip is planned for Friday, January 18th, 2019. The Easton Coach bus will leave for Washington D.C. by 6:30 am and return to school by 10:30 pm.
Activities are planned throughout the day. The 7th and 8th graders listened to a Right to Life presentation this morning. Two of our fabulous alumni and Mr. Smith from the Knights of Columbus led the inspiring presentation. Paperwork and permission slips are going home today. I hope your student will consider joining us!
On behalf of myself and the ICS faculty and staff, we are praying your year is full of renewed hope, confident trust and complete faith in God.
“Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love,
for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way I should go,
for to you I entrust my life.”
Psalm 143:8
Religion Fair Extravaganza
The 8th graders were super prepared with their Religion Fair presentations. Each team did a fabulous job explaining and demonstrating his/her project. The 8th graders were able to connect a secular concept with a religion concept. Many classes, faculty and staff were able to visit Sister Marie's classroom where all the project boards were on display. Visitors were encouraged to rotate around the room and actively interact with each team. The atmosphere was upbeat and inspirational as the students had several opportunities to share their knowledge and understanding of our faith.
Thank you 8th graders and Sister Marie for such an awesome experience.
The 8th graders will display their projects during Catholics Schools Week at the end of the month.
Impact of Kindness on the World
(Gabrielle and Alessandra)
Object lesson: Acts of Kindness create ripples of kindness that are carried out into the world. The students dropped little objects (=little acts of kindness) in the water to create ripples.
God Raises Us Up
(Alyssa and Kaileigh):
Object lesson: Making Righteous Choices.
The students put an egg which represents us when we feel discouraged or weighed down in the water (= a world of negativity and despair) and it sinks to the bottom.
When they put an egg in the salt water, it floats. Salt represents the righteous choices we make everyday that give us strength to move beyond the despair of this world.
Chatter Matters
(Jacob, Jonathon, and Ryan)
Object Lesson: Chatter Matters
The students explained how words could destroy people and relationship if we were not careful with what we say. The students encouraged everyone to speak words of kindness, love and encouragement.
Below is Our Lady of Guadalupe
I know that the messages you gave Saint Juan Diego are also for all of us, your children.
Help me not to be sad or disturbed by anything. Help me not to be afraid, even when bad things happen.
You have told us that you are our Mother.
You have promised that you will protect us.
I know that you always pray to God for us.
Saint Juan, I want to love Jesus and Mary as you did.
Ask God to make my faith strong.
Help me imitate you.
I want to be always ready to do what God wants.
Pray for me, Saint Juan. Amen.
