Wilkesboro is a Town and the County Seat of Wilkes County, North Carolina. The population of this town was a total of 3,413 and is located along the South bank of the Yadkin River, directly opposite of the town North Wilkesboro. This town is also home of the MerleFest festival. It was founded in 1800 and was designed as a County Seat Wilkesboro's largest largest industries is the Tyson Foods Poultry processing plant and is the largest of the Mississippi River. Wilkesboro has also long been a bastion of the Republican Party. This county includes two natural landmarks which is the Goose Creek State Park and the pilot mountain. There are two tourist attractions which Benton Hall and Walker Center.
