Welcome Back! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with their friends and family! Thank you to everyone who brought food for our Thanksgiving Feast! It was so much fun! Our little Indians had a great time. Make sure to check out the fun pictures below. I also wanted to say thanks to everyone who came to parent-teacher conferences. I loved talking with you about your awesome kiddos! :)
November went so fast and I know December will go much faster. We have a very busy next three weeks. Our first week back we will read a new Gingerbread book each day. We will be comparing and contrasting each story. This is a very fun unit. I'm excited to get started. We are also starting our word families. We will start making "at" words. This is also very exciting because you will start seeing your child build, spell, and read words. Each week we will have a new word family. Make sure to check out the calendar in the BEE Binder to know which word family we're on. :)
Everyone is doing so well sending the paper books back on Monday. Thanks so much for all your help. Remember we will only do it until January and then we won't be going back and forth. :)
This is a very magical time of year. I truly love the excitement the kids have for Santa and Christmas time. We will be doing many fun activities. Make sure to have them tell you one fun thing they did in class each day.
A Season for Giving:
Miss Hilary's class and ours will be collecting can food for the Idaho Food Bank. We have a small Christmas tree in our room and we would love to fill the bottom with can food. It's exciting to talk about Santa and presents, but we also love to teach the kids about giving to those less fortunate. If you would like to send in some can food we will be collecting it until Friday, December 18th.
Our Christmas Party:
On Friday, December 18th your child will be making Gingerbread houses. There was a sign up at parent-teacher conferences. If you missed it and would like to help, just let me know and I'll send home the list. Thanks to everyone who signed up! :)
This is a fun party! You're welcome to come in and help your child on Friday.
A few things to remember:
1. We go outside each day for 10-15 min. Please make sure to send warm coats, hats, gloves :)
2. Practice Sight Words
3. Homework due on Fridays
4. Have your child count to 100
5. Can they count by 5's or 10's to 100?
6. Practice word families
7. Read, Read, Read :)
As always, thank you so much for sharing your child with me. We are having an awesome year! Thanks to each and everyone of you for all your help and support! I couldn't do it without you! :)
