Pleasant Valley Family Newsletter
January 13, 2023
Our mission is to empower and inspire a community of lifelong learners and leaders!
HAPPY NEW YEAR, Pleasant Valey Families,
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday with your family and friends! We enjoyed welcoming all of our learners back. Our learners have again been filling the halls, classrooms, and cafeteria. I'm impressed with how well they have fallen back into a terrific routine!
We started mid-year assessments on January 9th and will continue through next week. Our learners will continue participating in several benchmark assessments to gauge their growth since the beginning of the year. Depending on grade level, learners will take oral or online tests. Our learners are familiar with these assessments, as they have taken them before. These benchmark results provide valuable information about our students learning. This is another great opportunity for us to check in and adjust our instruction as we start the second half of the school year.
Please remember that checking your child's progress using the Home Access Center is a great way to stay informed. I encourage you to view Home Access Center regularly with your child to offer direct encouragement and praise for their progress. It also provides valuable time to help them reflect and plan for improvement. Your child's second quarter report card grades will be available for viewing on January 25th.
When this winter season decides to be in full effect, please dress your child daily for the weather. Our children go outside for recess as long as the temperature and wind chill is 20 degrees or above.
I appreciate your patience as our old attendance number was not working, and we were waiting for it to be restored, but it could not be. Please take note of our new attendance line number, 440-843-3867.
I want to thank you for your partnership with Pleasant Valley! We are so appreciative of all of our Pleasant Valley families. Should you ever have any questions, concerns, or just a terrific idea you would like to share, especially about improving parent involvement, please email me at bokas@parmacityschools.org or call the main office at 440.885.2380.
Warmest Regards,
Mrs. Stephanie Boka

Attendance is Important
Attendance Procedures
If your child is going to be absent, please call our office at our updated attendance line number, 440-843-3867, no later than 9:30 am. If the absence requires a doctor's visit, please provide a doctor's note when they return to school. Daily student attendance is a vital component of student academic success. With House Bill 410, the state of Ohio requires each school district to communicate with families when a child is chronically absent.
