Our Lady of Mercy
NEWSLETTER | TERM 1 | WEEK 5 | 1 MARCH 2023
We are enjoying fun ways to learn! In Year 4, we have been learning about what our Local Government does for the community, with a visit from Councillor James Rowe who shared what he does for our suburb.
Prayer for Transforming Hearts
Merciful God,
source of all that is good,
wash us clean of all that prevents us from seeing you in each
of our sisters and brothers around the world.
Transform our hearts this Lent,
through our prayer, fasting and almsgiving,
to be open to the needs of all those who thirst.
Spirit of compassion,
move us to share with all people the water of life.
We ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen.
Message from the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers
We have a lovely long weekend to look forward to with Monday being a public holiday. It is a well- timed mid-term break.
Last Friday our leadership team went to classrooms to hand out merit certificates to our hard-working students. It was a meaningful experience as we had the time to speak to students individually about their achievements and also speak to the whole class and inspire and encourage them in their endeavours too. This deeper level of interaction with merit award recipients was just not possible at a whole school performance assembly.
Today, we held our second whole school assembly for the term. We discussed the excellent teaching and learning we see in all classrooms and reiterated our expectations around following playground rules.
Our school Code of Conduct binds all in our community to a standard of behaviour and conduct that supports a child safe school environment. We remind all parents that if you have any concerns about your child’s academic or social progress, the first point of call is the classroom teacher. Classroom teachers are engaged with your children every day and have deep insights into their learning and social/emotional behaviours.
We also remind parents that if you are using our Kiss and Drive children MUST exit the car on the pavement side. It is unsafe for them to climb out on the road side.
As we prepare our hearts during this Lenten season, we pray that God will support the inner strength of all in our school community, through the power of the Holy Spirit.
God bless you all.
