Our Lady of Mercy
NEWSLETTER | TERM 4 | WEEK 4 | 3 NOVEMBER 2021
Our Pre-Primary students went to Kings Park for an excursion! Students learnt about the six Noongar seasons. They were taken on a bush walk to learn about native plants and bush tucker. Students then learnt about a dreaming story by participating in a traditional Aboriginal dance. The students then tried different native plants that the Aboriginal people eat like the salt bush and Geraldton wax. All students made their own bracelets and tried some face painting! It was a busy and fun excursion and all students had a great time! Thank you to our parent helpers for volunteering their time.
All Soul's Day Prayer
Jesus, our dear Saviour,
We prayerfully remember all our loved ones who have died.
Please give them comfort, love and hope
and may they be at peace, knowing that they will rest in God's arms eternally.
Thank you for our precious memories of them
and for all of the wonderful times we shared.
We ask You please, to deepen our faith, strengthen our hope and increase our love
so that we too may someday stand before You, ready to enter Your Holy Kingdom.
Amen.
Message from the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers
Term 4 is a term filled with thanksgiving and gratitude for the many blessings in our community and a celebration of the wonderful achievements over the course of a school year.
On Friday last week the P&F took time to celebrate a successful 2021, filled with fund raising and friend raising events and activities. This celebration was more than well-deserved as our P&F members have worked tirelessly for our students and families throughout this year.
P&F Outdoor Movie next Friday
The next P&F community event will be the P&F Christmas Movie night on Friday 12th of November. This is the very first time the P&F are running an outdoor movie event and we hope that you will all attend this wonderful opportunity to be together as a family and school community. We have told the children that we have very high expectations for their behaviour at the outdoor movie and that there is to be no running around and playing on equipment during the movie. We ask parents to manage their children’s behaviour on the night as this will be a factor in determining whether we host another event like this in the future.
Cultural Morning Teas
We are really excited about our very first cultural morning tea tomorrow for our Vietnamese families. This opportunity to gather together will assist families to network with one another and create greater bonds within our school community.
Advisory Council and P&F Nominations
On 29th of November, we will be holding our school AGM at 7pm in the undercover area. All parents attending will be entered in a draw to receive a booklist prize. We have several booklist prizes to give out, so please save the date to attend this important school meeting.
This year we have a number of Advisory Council (previously known as the school Board) executive positions that are up for nomination as well as P&F executive positions. We are especially looking for someone with a bookkeeping or accounting background to take on the role of Treasurer for the Advisory Council and P&F. This role is supported by our school finance officer. If you would like further details about what the role involves please contact the school and we can put you in touch with the current Treasurer who will explain what the position involves.
Please send an email if you would like to nominate for an executive position on the Advisory Council or the P&F to ondine.komnick@cewa.edu.au
All Saints and All Souls Days
On the 1st and 2nd of November as a Catholic community we celebrate All Saints and All Souls days. All Saints’ Day is dedicated to the saints of the Church and All Souls’ Day is a holy day set aside for honouring the dead. We think about those in our community who have suffered the loss of a loved one this year, and we especially keep these families in our loving prayers.
God bless you all.
Ondine Komnick
