Principals Message

Dear Lackamas Lightning Families,

Thank you for your feedback and partnership as we launched the 2020-2021 school year. Our staff will continue to work extremely hard to provide a great experience for you and your child/children. Our first few weeks of school have been about making sure all of our students understand and feel supported regarding "how we do school" in a distance learning environment. You will be seeing an increase in the academic load in the next couple of weeks. Some struggle in the "learning pit" is normal. Please reach out to your teacher for support if you feel your child is struggling we have many ways to help and want to know how they are feeling and what you are seeing at home.

We know learning online can be stressful for students and families. YOU are so important to us. We know some families are dealing with technology and connectivity issues while other families are dealing with students who feel unsure about online learning and Zoom classes. Therefore, as we continue the school year in a way none of us have ever done before, you can count on us to extend grace and understanding to our families. Just reach out and loop us in on your personal situation so we can lean in and be a supportive resource.

We look forward to seeing each of you on October 7th for our "Meet & Beep" for learning supply pick up and to connect with you. There are 300 bags just waiting for you. Our hope is to make this event safe, efficient, and a way to connect each month for learning.

Thank you for making this challenging time a gift--an opportunity to serve each other and grow stronger as a community. Stay safe and healthy. Please reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns. We are all in this together.

Student of the Month - Remotely

Student of the Month awards are part of the Lackamas tradition and we will continue to celebrate them, even during our Distance Learning. Students will be recognized, it will just look a little different.

Students will get a postcard from their teacher in the mail, letting them know they have been chosen as a Student of the Month. Students of the Month will be included at our first Wednesday of the month "Meet and Beeps". Students of the Month will be asked to hop out and have a socially distanced photo in front of the main building and pick up their medal and certificate.

Return School Paperwork

School paperwork was included in your packets on the Supply Pick-up Day September 2nd. Thanks to those of you that have returned it already! If you haven't had a chance, please return all paperwork by September 30th. If you need additional copies, please call the school (360) 894-6000. While the weather is good we have a sandwich board sign and box to collect paperwork in front of the main building. Otherwise, knock on the front doors and we will meet you there to get your paperwork.

Please note: you will not find the Attendance Info Form in the packet as it was removed.

Student Attendance

Even though students are working remotely, we do need to know when your student is absent. Please call the attendance line, (360)894-6012, leave a brief message with the reason for the absence. We understand your schedules often times require flexibility, but if your student is unable to participate or engage in daily work, please email your teacher and call the attendance line.
