The Lackamas Lightning Strike
Home of the Lightning... Learn Lead Succeed
Dear Lackamas Lightning Families,
Thank you for your feedback and partnership as we launched the 2020-2021 school year. Our staff will continue to work extremely hard to provide a great experience for you and your child/children. Our first few weeks of school have been about making sure all of our students understand and feel supported regarding "how we do school" in a distance learning environment. You will be seeing an increase in the academic load in the next couple of weeks. Some struggle in the "learning pit" is normal. Please reach out to your teacher for support if you feel your child is struggling we have many ways to help and want to know how they are feeling and what you are seeing at home.
We know learning online can be stressful for students and families. YOU are so important to us. We know some families are dealing with technology and connectivity issues while other families are dealing with students who feel unsure about online learning and Zoom classes. Therefore, as we continue the school year in a way none of us have ever done before, you can count on us to extend grace and understanding to our families. Just reach out and loop us in on your personal situation so we can lean in and be a supportive resource.
We look forward to seeing each of you on October 7th for our "Meet & Beep" for learning supply pick up and to connect with you. There are 300 bags just waiting for you. Our hope is to make this event safe, efficient, and a way to connect each month for learning.
Thank you for making this challenging time a gift--an opportunity to serve each other and grow stronger as a community. Stay safe and healthy. Please reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns. We are all in this together.
"Meet and Beep" - Supply Pick-up Drive Thru
Wednesday, October 7th is our first "Meet and Beep" for our families to drive-thru and pick-up new materials and needed supplies. "Meet and Beeps" will be the first Wednesday of the month. We will also ask “Students of the Month” to hop out and have a socially distanced photo in front of the main building and pick up their medal and certificate. Also, please return any school paperwork at this time! Many thanks to South Sound Reading for providing a book for every student! Social distancing guidelines will be followed. Please stay in your vehicle at all times.
Please see the flyer below for grade level times and more information...
Student of the Month - Remotely
Students will get a postcard from their teacher in the mail, letting them know they have been chosen as a Student of the Month. Students of the Month will be included at our first Wednesday of the month "Meet and Beeps". Students of the Month will be asked to hop out and have a socially distanced photo in front of the main building and pick up their medal and certificate.
