PANORAMA
Panorama will be releasing the results of the student surveys (grades 3-5) that were administered in February. This year we will have access to the new Panorama SEL tool. This means that school-based administrators, classroom teachers and support staff will have access to student level results for the SEL measures: self-management, social awareness, and emotion regulation. *
Panorama SEL Tool:
The Panorama SEL Tool will allow school-based teams to identify students that self-report areas of growth within the SEL domains. Below please find information about and a link to a short tutorial video on how to utilize the SEL tool:
Quick walkthrough video With this tool, school-based teams will be able to:
Explore SEL assessment data about students’ SEL strengths and opportunities for growth across topics
Easily filter and sort results from Panorama SEL surveys to identify trends, including those within demographic groups and changes over time
Dive into an individual student’s SEL profile to more fully understand how to support the whole student during staff meetings and support team meetings
Create groups of students based on their SEL profile that can be shared with other educators and administrators. Watch this quick video to see how you can create your own!
Add a support plan for students that includes evidence-based supports for fostering strong SEL skills. Watch this video to see how!
How to Access Survey Results & the Panorama SEL Tool:
School-based administrators and staff will receive an email from Panorama Education this week indicating that the results of the survey are available. This email will include a link to set-up a user account. If staff have questions or difficulty accessing the results, they can contact me at scugini@framingham.k12.ma.us.
Next Steps:
We are hopeful that classroom teachers and student support teams will find this tool helpful in identifying and intervention planning for students in need of additional SEL supports. As in previous years, we will be running district-wide family, staff and student (grades 3-12) surveys later in the Spring (May 11 - 22, 2020).
*In order to ensure student privacy, Panorama has set-up access guidelines for the data, as follows.
School Administrators can see the aggregate reports about the district, their school, and all student-level data at their school only
Counselors can see the aggregate reports about their district, their school, and all student-level data in their school only
Teachers can see the aggregate report about their district and school. Some users (classroom teachers as identified by school administrators) have access to student-level data for their students only.

MCAS SCHEDULE
MCAS UPDATES
As MCAS testing approaches us, it is time for us to begin preparation.
In March, we are scheduling 2 opportunities for MCAS training for staff and a window for an infrastructure trial for grade levels. Below are the details for each.
MCAS Training:
All staff that are involved in MCAS (or have a chance of being involved in administering MCAS) will need to attend MCAS training with Kathie. Please plan to attend one of the trainings listed below:
- March 17@ 4:00
- March 18 @ 8:15
Please sign up for one of these times on the google document link below.

Infrastructure Trial:
Each tested grade will need to run a one hour infrastructure trail (practice test). We will not be pulling the small groups for that as it is mostly an exercise to practice using the test site. Please work as a grade level and plan to do the one hour trial during the following days:
- Monday, March 23
- Wednesday, March 25
- Thursday, March 26
- Friday, March 27

Updated MCAS English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science and Technology/Engineering practice tests are now posted. Additional materials, including updated answer keys and special forms, will be posted in the coming weeks as they become available.
A graphing practice tool is also now available as an additional resource for grade 10 students. Students can use this tool to graph one or two equations and/or inequalities with corresponding solution sets. The tool is posted at the MCAS Resource Center under Grade 10 Resources.
Updates to TestNav for 2020
Several updates to TestNav are being implemented for spring 2020 MCAS testing. Please see the attached “Updates to TestNav for 2020” and note the following in particular.
- Expandable Panels: The new “expandable panels” functionality allows students to expand the left or right side of the screen to make it easier to read passages and/or write responses. The functionality is available in some ELA items and some items for the next-generation Biology and Physics tests for grade 9.
- Calculators: Certain Mathematics and STE tests will have multiple calculators available for students on TestNav. While students can choose from multiple calculators, it is recommended that students use the calculator they typically use in the classroom.
- Zoom: Students will be able to zoom in to make everything on their screen larger.
- Highlight to Hear in Text-to-Speech: When students with the text-to-speech accommodation select text, a “Listen” button will appear alongside the highlighter options. Students can click this “Listen” button to hear the selected text.
