wrap it up
have you ever been to the store and you see the different numbers in the little recycling symbols ,on the bottoms of the plastic bottles and other products , well they are meanings for different types of plastic of where you can recycle them, that means how many times it will be recycled and some things can only be recycled a certain amount of times and what happens to them after they're time is up, they get thrown away or sent to landfills.
What would our life today be like without plastic? According to the United Nations Environmental Programme, consumption of global plastic from the 1950's has gone from 5.5 million tons compared to 2009 to 110 million tons .
to this day we Americans each year discard about 33.6 million tons of plastic , 7.7 percent of plastic is combusted in waste-to-energy facilities, which create electricity or heat from garbage .but only 6.5 percent of plastic is recycled.
