Tiger Times
WEEK OF ~ May 1, 2023
Millennium Family ~
Thank you so much for your patience and flexibility as we continue to work on the implementation of weapon detectors on campus. We started off slowly the first three days getting students acclimated to walking through the detectors. On Thursday, the detectors were turned on. You may have noticed longer lines, especially in the student parking lot. It will get better. Friday was quicker than Thursday. We will continue to improve each day. The following items will set off the detectors and students are asked to take them out along with their chrome book and pass it to the side as they walk through the detectors: 3-ring binders, eyeglass cases, some calculators, and multiple spiral bound notebooks bunched together (alternate the spine so they're not all bunched together).
Please be sure to continue to follow all the same drop-off routes.
*Dropping off in front of the school? Please pull ALL the way up in front of the J building prior to dropping off your student. Avoid dropping off in front of the attendance or guidance office and directly in front of the front gates.
*Dropping off in the student parking lot? Please drop off students at the covered curbing as you enter the lot. Please drop off and immediately exit the lot. Students can walk to the entry line from there. Refrain from driving and dropping off by the new gym. We ask this for the safety of our student drivers and our students being dropped off. It will not hurt them to walk to get in the line.
*Please note - students should NOT be dropped off at the bus loop entrance.
I highly recommend allowing yourself a little more time and arrive 5-10 minutes earlier. Gates will open at 6:30am. Reminder students will be required to show their ID every morning as they enter campus.
There will be three entry points to campus as indicated by the map. #1 - front of the school drop off (gate between guidance counseling and the J building), #2 - bus loop (gate between L & M buildings.) This is where our baseball parking lot students should enter, #3 - student parking lot (gate between the U & N buildings by the dance room). Late start and West MEC students will park as they usually do and enter through the student parking lot entrance gate (between U & N) onto campus. Students who are tardy to school will enter through the attendance office. We will have detectors there. Parents and any other community members will still enter through the attendance office and will go through the weapon detectors prior to conducting any business on campus. Please be sure to have your ID.
Please note - Weapon detectors will be at our attendance office as well. Anyone coming on campus to conduct business will be required to enter through the weapon detectors. As we continue to focus on safety and security measures a reminder that ID's are required for individuals picking up students. Please be sure to have those with you any time you're coming into the attendance office.

STAFF CELEBRATIONS! Teacher Appreciation Week is approaching quickly...
Hey Tiger Families!
Our Millennium student council and administration are so excited to celebrate our staff in a big way the week of May 8th - May 12th, but we can't do it without you. We are seeking creative, generous families and community partners to help us during this week known nationally as Teacher Appreciation Week. Our hope is that all 120 staff members are given some token of appreciation through gifts, acts of kindness and words of gratitude throughout the week and particularly as we gather for our staff luncheon on May 24th.
Will you help? Can your family or your business provide a raffle basket? How about a gift card, tickets to an event, or service? We’d love to have you join us in honoring our educators who work so hard to teach, lead, and nurture our students.
If you choose to join in the celebration of our Millennium High School educators, please fill out this quick Google Form (https://forms.gle/cuxf8aqtgnvtatRV8) so we can anticipate donations. Then, please plan to deliver your item(s) to the MHS office no later than May 3rd, 2022. If you are unable to deliver please reach out to LaToya DeJesus (ldejesus@aguafria.org) to arrange pick up.
Millennium Open Enrollment - If your student is enrolled at Millennium on Open Enrollment, we need a new application completed annually. Please take a couple of minutes to complete the online form so we can be sure your students file is current.
