Mental Health Matters
It's never too early to start talking with your child(ren) about mental health. Normalizing these conversations can help children spot the signs and feel comfortable talking about them with their trusted adults. Here are some helpful tips for parents during these conversations. Click on this link to find more information in our Mental Health Matters SMORE.

Leader in Me
Clever is a Leader in Me school. Leader in Me is a focus based off of the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Each month 3-5 will focus on a specific habit. Students will receive LEADERSLIPS which highlight when a student is showcasing leadership skills.
The month of November, we will be focusing on Habit 3: Put First Things First.
Habit 3 Put First Things First, Work first, then play!
- Focus on you highest priorities
- Eliminate the unimportant
- Plan every week
- Stay true in the moment of choice

Time for a Story
Looking for a way to spend time with your child and help him learn to love books? Here are some suggestions.
Read regularly- Try to read to your child 10-15 minutes every day. Make it part of a bedtime routine, bring a book along to read during a sibling’s sports practice, or play an audiobook in the car as you run errands with them.
Take turns choosing books- Your child may love hearing the same book over and over. Use your turn to introduce new books and variety. Throw in some nonfiction or poetry.
Let your child participate- Ask your child to turn the pages or finish the sentence. Go slowly so he has time to understand the story and look at the illustrations.
Be playful- Use different voices for different characters or substitute your child’s name for the main character’s name. Be creative and have fun with it.
You don’t have to be an expert reader! Your child will love it when you read aloud because it’s you!
Vocabulary Booster
When you and your child go places, point out words that people use. Maybe your server describes an entree or the dentist talks about molars. Encourage your child to figure out what the words mean.

Personal Electronic Devices (PED'S)
Personal electronic devices (PEDs) are defined as any cell phones, radios, tape/cd players, MP3/iPods players, laptops, portable video games, etc. The inappropriate use of PEDs or other disruptive devices in school poses increasing risk of disruptions, bullying, criminal activity, and academic dishonesty.
The Clever R-V board of education prohibits the use of PEDs during instructional time from 7:55 am to 3:40 pm on any day that school is in session. This includes the use of restrooms, water breaks, and during a class period.
