Summit SPARKS News

Dear Summit Road STEM Elementary School Community,

It is an honor to introduce myself as the new principal of Summit Road STEM Elementary School and to join such an extraordinary school community. Through my interactions with staff and parents thus far, I can tell that it is a unique and special place that I am incredibly excited to become part of. I assure you that I share the school community’s commitment to caring for your children each and every day while providing them the best learning environment possible.

I join Summit Road with 20+ years of experience as an educator and a proud parent of two Reynoldsburg graduates. I spent 8 years teaching at the elementary level and after earning my Master’s degree in Administration, I served as an Assistant Principal and Principal both at the elementary and middle school levels within the Columbus City School District. Being an elementary principal provides me the opportunity to work collaboratively with teachers on a daily basis, while staying connected to student growth and learning in the classroom. I firmly believe that every child can excel and the partnership between home and school builds the necessary confidence in students to be successful socially, emotionally, and academically.

With my goal of continuing the tradition of excellence here at Summit Road STEM Elementary School, I am committed to working together to meet the needs of all students and effectively communicate with parents and the community. I will be meeting with parents, students, community partners, and staff throughout the year to learn all I can about Summit Road and identify areas for celebration and growth.

Please know that my door is always open. I welcome your conversation and positive input throughout the year. Let us always keep our students the primary focus of our work and time together. I look forward to celebrating our collective successes during the 2019-2020 school year. I am truly honored to be given this opportunity and look forward to getting to know the students, families, and community of Summit Road STEM Elementary School.

Together we SPARK!

Attendance is Important

Regular attendance by all students is very important. When students miss class, they really miss out. We urge families to schedule appointments and other errands outside of school hours whenever possible.

When a student is absent or tardy to school, families need to notify the school to report the absence or tardy either by phone or email.

Please call (614) 501-5530 to report an absence. The attendance line is available 24-hours. Please include your child's name, date of absence, teacher's name and reason for absence. Also, you may contact our office by email at

When your student returns, they are required to bring a note to school signed by the parent/guardian explaining the reason for the absence. We will accept an email as their written note as well.

A written parent note can excuse up to ten (10) absences per school year. All absences beyond those 10 parent excused absences require a signed note from a doctor, dentist or court official to be an excused absence.

Summit Visitors/Volunteers Procedures

We ask that all visitors sign-in through the Raptor system each time they enter the school. The Raptor system requires guests to present their identification/driver’s license for scanning through our district-wide Raptor system. You will be given a badge to wear while on the school campus so that the students will recognize that you are not a stranger in the building.

Volunteers in our school provide an invaluable service to our students and staff members.

If you are interested in volunteering in our school, please complete the online volunteer application and stop by the Reynoldsburg City Schools Business Office (1555 Graham Road) to complete the BCI process. The BCI fingerprinting process is of NO COST to our volunteers, but is required to complete the process. Your cleared background checks are good for five (5) years.

1. Complete Online Application at

2. Visit the Reynoldsburg City Schools BUSINESS OFFICE at 1555 Graham Road to complete the BCI check (Tuesday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.)
