Work Study Updates & Reminders

Important information about pay rate increases for work study students for the Spring 2017 semester

It is vital that your students are tracking what they are earning and how many hours they are working due to the two minimum wage increases for the Spring 2017 semester that resulted in a $1 per hour pay rate increase. Students can always check what they have earned by contacting the Payroll Office. Students cannot be paid for more than the student's award amount. The award amount for the year and by semester can always be found online via Your Connection.

2017-2018 Work Study Information

Students are awarded work study based on the FAFSA results and time of FAFSA application. A student who is currently working in your office might not be eligible for work study for the 2017-18 year due to the FAFSA results or the date that he/she completed the FAFSA. Early January FAFSA application is recommended.

The Financial Aid Office has already sent out 2017-2018 financial aid award letters to all students who have completed their FAFSA for the 2017-2018 academic year. Students already know if they have been awarded a work study position for next academic year. If he/she was awarded a work study position for the 2017-2018 academic year, it would be on the financial aid award letter and also viewable via Your Connection.

If a student was not awarded work study for the 2017-2018 academic year, he/she can call or e-mail the office at and ask to be placed on the waiting list. The student would want to be sure to let our office know that he/she had a work study position for the current year.
