Swansboro Elementary
August 30, 2020
This week our 3rd grade students will participate in the Beginning of Grade Reading assessments. Cohort A will be on Tuesday, Sept. 1 and Cohort B will be on Thursday, Sept. 3. Please make sure your 3rd grader is here on time on those days. Also on Tuesday we will kick off our annual Candy Man fundraiser. This year it will be done all online. Please be on the look out for more info coming home this week. Don't forget that there is no school on Monday in honor of Labor Day.
This Wednesday morning we will be holding Live Teams sessions for students in grades second through fifth. We will not start these sessions for kindergarten and first grade students until the following week as they are still learning how to use the devices. Please see the Technology Assistance section of our newsletter for help with any tech issues that your child may experience through out the year. Included is a phone number for tech support and parent modules on how to use TEAMS.
Did you know that your child can still have access to school meals on their remote learning days? Teachers will be sending home a student lunch card for you to keep at home. Mondays,Tuesdays, Thursday and Fridays breakfast and lunch service is available for pick up at Swansboro High School 8:45-10:00 and 8:45 - 11:45 on Wednesdays. You will need your child's lunch card and the same rates apply as when your child eats on campus.
Don't forget, you can now pay your school fees online. Visit our website and look for the shopping cart. A student ID is needed for this. You can find it on their student login sheet or you can all the office and they can look it up for you. Thank you for taking care of school fees as quickly as possible and make sure you check out our new shirts that just arrived Friday.
In this week's newsletter, I am including an updated student handbook. Please make note that several things have changed due to Covid restrictions (we have already shared most of these changes). Some things have remained the same such as student dress code and electronic devices at school, so please take a few minutes to review these expectations with your child in order to help everyone have a smooth year. Thanks.
