Cedar Park (Tuesday) Memo
February 20, 2018
Notes from Shannon
Notes from Megan
•8th grade: High schools will return next Tuesday to help students enter the data. 8th Humanities teachers-just a reminder to collect forecasting forms from students. Due to Andrew by Thursday so he and Fayna can follow up with errors and missing sheets. Please attach a class list to the top of your pile, with students checked off who have returned them. Thank you!
•Snow day? With the possibility of snow/early release looming this afternoon, we will use the emergency release data (when you need to leave) to communicate when teachers can be released and where students will gather. The office will be in touch with timing/release order.
•Wellness Survey/6th and 8th grades: Schools across the state will administer an anonymous Wellness Survey to all students in grades 6, 8 and 11. The survey assesses school climate and behavioral heath. It assesses protective factors as well as risk factors. We will receive the data from our school next fall. It will be done on Chromebooks, and students will take the survey on 3/20 for 8th grade and 3/21 for 6th grade. Their website cannot accommodate all students on the same day. Please let me know what your grade level's plan will be for administering the survey.

2. Volunteers vs. Guest Speakers
Volunteers and Guest Speakers are an important part of enriching student and classroom experiences. Please consult the Administrative Regulation IICC-AR which clarifies the distinction between Volunteers, Guest Speakers and Visitors. Invited guests, speaking to the entire classroom, are not required to complete the volunteer application and background check. As always, teachers must remain in the classroom during these presentations.3. February is Sheltered Instruction Month!
This 2-day training will assist teachers in supporting ELLs in their instruction and lessons
