Do You Want Transportation Next Year - This Form is Required
Osseo Area Schools is implementing a new transportation opt-in requirement for the 2022-23 school year. This process will not change bus riding eligibility for students, but will require parents/caregivers of transportation-eligible students in grades kindergarten through 12th grade to declare how their student(s) will get to and from school. Please click on the link below. The REGISTRATION DEADLINE FOR EXISTING STUDENTS IS JUNE 1, 2022. If a form is not received, your student will NOT receive a bus assignment.

Media News
MGMS Chromebook Collection will take place on Wednesday, June 8th. Please gather the Chromebook, two-piece charger, and bag with strap. After June 8th, returning items will take place at the Technology Support Center area of the ESC. We will be looking for volunteers to help with this process as well, so please be alert for a Sign-Up Genius coming soon. More details will follow as the date gets closer.
All MGMS Library Books are due on Friday, June 3rd. Overdue notices are being sent every Tuesday morning to emails we have on file. Please help us get the books returned for others to use during this summer and ready for next fall.

Teacher & Staff Wishlist
A parent on our PACT committee put together a wish list of items based on teachers input. Next week, May 2-6 is teacher appreciation week. This is a perfect opportunity to support our teachers. Click on the words below, "Teacher/Staff Wish List" to gather some ideas. In addition, some teachers have included links to their Amazon wish lists. If you are interested in sending a gift card or any items to the teacher, please send it to their attention at the school address listed below.
Maple Grove Middle School
7000 Hemlock Lane
Maple Grove, MN 55369
The Amazon lists should already have the address pre-filled. If you know of any staff that didn't get a chance to add their information, they can email Andrea Dorn.
Thank you in advance for spreading some kindness.

Building a Better Future
This is the first time in nearly a decade that voters are being asked to reinvest in district schools to maintain services and address growing needs.
Question 1: focuses on the operating levy, which pays for day-to-day learning and instructional needs. If approved by voters, it would provide an additional $7 million annually to continue and expand:
Individualized learning,
Academic interventions,
Scholar mental health needs, and
Other critical classroom supports.
Question 2: focuses on the technology levy, which pays for classroom learning technology, infrastructure systems and needed support staff. If approved by voters, it would provide an additional $2.3 million to also prioritize:
School safety and security technology,
Tools and systems for all scholars, and
Digital learning spaces at schools.
Visit district279.org/BetterFuture for additional details on the ballot questions, upcoming community meetings (May 17) and voting information.

What To Do...
ABSENCES
If your child is going to be late or absent from school, please call the school with the reason for the absence. The telephone call eliminates the need to send a note with your student when he/she returns to school. We would appreciate having the call between the hours of 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM. Excused absences consist of illness, medical appointments, and family emergency situations such as a funeral. Oversleeping, missing the bus, or skipping school are not excused and are considered truancy.
MGMS 24 Hour Attendance Line: 763-315-7603.
APPOINTMENTS/EARLY RELEASE - HERE IS WHAT YOU DO
1. Send a note with your student in the morning
2. When the student gets to school they go to Student Services to get a white pass
3. At the stated time on the pass, your student leaves class and comes to the office with the white pass and signs out in the main office
4. The person picking up can wait in the car (very helpful on cold winter days)
If you didn't send a note, you will need to come in with your driver's license and we will call your student down when you arrive.
This procedure is in place to ensure student safety.
