Updates from Mrs. Froning

May 2 2020

Big picture
As we begin the month of May, it appears we will enjoy so much needed sunshine and warm temps in the coming days. I hope you and your families take the time to ENJOY the weather! I continue to be so grateful for the support of our school family during this period of time.

On May 1st, some traditions celebrated include dancing around a Maypole decorated with ribbons, honoring the crowning of a May queen or by giving a special basket filled with flowers and treats to some anonymously. In the Wishtree, the book I read aloud to the students during our first two weeks of the closure, the tradition of tying a "wish" ribbon on a tree was shared too.

My wish for all is that we give one another the gift of grace! As you continue to adjust to your new job as "homeschool teachers", remind yourselves you are doing your best and that is ENOUGH!

Seeking Information for Next Year

2020-2021 Parent/Guardian Input Form

Placement of children for the next school year is a team process. The classroom teachers, special area teachers, and Mrs. Froning meet to consider the best placement for every child. Many aspects of a child’s development – academic, emotional, and social are very carefully considered. Because we view the process as so important, our staff will invest many hours to ensure the very best placement decisions. The staff working with your child has learned a great deal about his or her learning style, strengths, challenges, and opportunities for growth. In addition to individual needs, we also consider the balance of each classroom, so that optimal learning environments are created for all children. While it is never appropriate to request a specific teacher, if there is important information you wish to convey regarding your child’s learning needs, you are invited to submit the form linked below by Friday, May 15th . We understand that this is a sensitive issue. In fairness to all children and staff members, please trust in us to handle placement with the care and sensitivity that is necessary for these important decisions.

2020-2021 School Year Planning Form

Your child(ren) are important to us, and we would like to ensure that we provide them with the very best possible educational environment. Therefore, it is absolutely essential that we know which students will be returning to Oakley Park next year. The information you provide assists us in determining class sizes and the number of classrooms per grade level.

If your family will NOT be returning to Oakley Park for the 2020-2021 school year, please complete the form linked below by Friday, May 15th. *5th graders who are attending middle school next year do NOT need to complete this form.
