Example of Excellence- LMS Musical Shrek
Members of the LMS Drama Club performed scenes from their production of Shrek. BOE members commented on how much they enjoyed the performance, and President Desecki shared that she was happy that the seniors in the community attended the performance and enjoyed themselves.
Board Business
- West Cook Dinner Meeting will be held on March 2, 2017 at Stevenson Middle School in Melrose Park.

Old Business Information
- Finance Committee Update: The District received 3 bids from vendors to replace school buses. The committee will recommend the lease option, and this will be included in the March Board Meeting Agenda.
- SD81 applied for and received a FY17 Teacher Induction and Mentoring Grant of $26,072 from ISBE, which will cover the entire costs of the mentoring program.
New Business Information
- Winter Student Achievement Results for each school: The presentation included NWEA MAP student data. All students in SD81 have demonstrated growth in Reading and Math based on the conditional growth percentile data. Dr.Boryszewski credited school principals for providing excellent leadership, and teachers have done great work this summer aligning curriculum.
- Preschool Funding: Dr. Boryszewski shared that ISBE has reissued a new grant competition cycle for preschool funding. No preference in funding will be given to districts who already have programs. ISBE representatives have told districts to issue pink slips. Dr. Boryszewski stated that she knew that would not be an option taken by the Board. The District will be applying for the funding. The Board received information in their packets regarding the need for local funds to support the preschool program because state payments are not being made. Dr. Boryszewski will keep the Board informed.
- There will be a special board meeting March 6, 2017 to approve bid & award contract for Phase 3 of the Kennedy Project.
