Our Lady of Mercy
NEWSLETTER | TERM 1 | WEEK 8 | 23 MARCH 2022
During the past couple of weeks, we have been enjoying our time learning online, in the comfort of our own homes. We have enjoyed the various tasks assigned to us on Seesaw, however, we are grateful to be back in the classroom this week with all our friends and our lovely teachers!
Harmony Day Prayer:
O’ God You create all people in your image.
We thank you for the astonishing variety of races and cultures in this world.
Enrich our lives by ever widening circles of friendship and show us your presence in those who differ most from us, until our knowledge of your love is made perfect in our love for all your children;
Through your son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
Message from the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers
It was wonderful to welcome the majority of our students back to school this week. Our week long remote learning has reduced our daily caseload, which is an excellent outcome for our school community.
Harmony Day
On Friday this week, we celebrate Harmony Day. Our school values the diversity of culture, language and perspective that our students and families bring to our community. This diversity serves to enrich our school, and helps us all to grow in our understanding, tolerance and respect for one another. Pope Francis said that "The world exists for everyone, because all of us were born with the same dignity. Differences of colour, religion, talent, place of birth or residence, and so many others, cannot be used to justify the privileges of some over the rights of all. As a community, we have an obligation to ensure that every person lives with dignity and has sufficient opportunities for his or her integral development."
Kiss and Drive Behaviour
It is an expectation that families who use Kiss and Drive show patience and courteous behaviour. The speed limit in this area is 10km per hour as this is a dual use area. Mobile phone use is strictly prohibited in Kiss and Drive and families are not to park and leave their vehicle in the Kiss and Drive zone. We thank everyone for following these simple guidelines to ensure the safety of everyone in the Kiss and Drive area.
Naplan
Tomorrow we will be conducting a Naplan readiness test. All schools in Western Australia are participating in this practice test to provide students with the opportunity to become familiar with the question formats. Naplan testing will take place in Term 2 during Week 3 from Tuesday 10th to Friday 13th of May. To all Year 3 and Year 5 families, it is important to encourage your child to try their best but to not feel stressed or anxious about sitting the Naplan tests. Naplan testing is simply one of many assessments used to gather information on your child’s progress and to measure their development.
Covid-19
A reminder to all families that if your child feels unwell, please keep them at home and get them tested. If they test positive with Covid, please use the online form (button below) to report their positive test status to our school. The form is also on the Families page of our website, next to the absentee form.
God bless you all.
