Tumuaki Korero

Tēnā koutou,

This week the students have been attending Fundamental Skills at the Stadium and have been learning a number of skills in various water based and land based activities and games. It is great to see the children demonstrating resilience as they participate in a the various activities.

We are currently having students and staff impacted with sickness, both COVID, tummy bugs and seasonal colds. Please understand that we are working very hard to cover any staffing absences and there is currently very limited reliever availability across Marlborough.

It is so important to please keep your child home if they are unwell. If you require any RAT tests, we have some available in the office.

Tomorrow, March the 16th the school will be closed as teachers and principals will be striking along with their colleagues from ECE, primary and secondary across New Zealand. There are a number of reasons why this strike is going ahead but most importantly please understand that your children are at the heart of everything we do We need support in our kura and our classrooms to ensure everybody has the opportunity to be valued and achieve success. If you would like to support us, we will be at Seymour Square between 9-11am. It would be lovely to see you there.

Our school environment is looking so amazing! A huge thank you to Grandad Phil for all his mahi in our gardens and orchard. We have seedlings almost ready to be planted in our edible gardens and the we will get to enjoy crunchy beans, broccoli and more!

The orchard is there for the community to enjoy so please feel free to come and harvest some of the delicious apples and pears that are ripe at the moment. The Feijoa are not too far away from being ready as well.

Finally, next week we will be digging out the sand from the sandpit so if any whanau are able to bring along a shovel and help at any time that would be greatly appreciated. Please pop into the office if you want to find out more.

Have a fantastic week everyone.
